Default Feedback/advice for configurable Homepage please

Hi
I am looking for a little advice for my website that is currently under construction.
The aim is for people to use this as their homepage. The idea is for users to create a page with their own links to WebPages they use on a regular basis (a little like being able to access their "favourites" from any PC anywhere in the world).

You can customise each box or tiltle with whatever text or link you like.

I know iGoogle is out there but wanted a less fussy and easily editable (if needed) page to my fav links.

I am not a professional web designer so wanted to keep things simple but not “naff” looking.

I plan to incorporate some form of advertising (not sure where or what yet!!) to generate some income).

Any constructive advice/criticism or just general feedback would be appreciated.

My website url is: Create a Homepage

Your site need a good header, in addition you can add links for discount and coupon using few affiliate programs. Also if you post "Latest Events" aiming a city will give you more control to update your content on regular basis and will attract more visitors.

Thanks for the feedback Paul, I was aware for the need for changing content for Search Engine Optimization but was unsure as to how to incorporate into a site like this, but a "Latest Events" area is a good idea.

You should check few popular sites of similar niche and try to understand how they add contents and optimize keywords because you'll need content for each categories and research your field to analyze potential keywords. Currently you've placed outbound links without using anchor text and keywords, that does not looks professional, however I am not sure how those links is going to help you unless you're affiliate or associated with them either way. However I think you should use proper anchor text and make links "no follow" otherwise you'll be passing link juice to those site.

paul has made some very good points there. I do think the area has been covered but if you can offer something unique (this is the key to any good website) then you will be on your way to making a success .

just as a quick idea - your categories could be pre-loaded with 5 'suggestions for favourites', that could then be changed by the user if they wanted - someone would, of course, be paying you to have their site listed .........

I like the design in general. Needs a few formatting tweaks e.g. some of the text colours need better contrast but overall I think it's a nice clean design. As people have said, a few more ideas about what could go on would be great. Maybe also some kind of news info. Would help with the Search Engine Optimization.
