Default Looking for final pointers

Hi all,

2nd website hosting up for your opinions, this is actually our own page, as these things tend to be it has been the hardest website hosting in the whole world to do, because your never happy when its your own. I hadn't intended putting this up until it was finished, but we're at around 80% complete and looking for final tweaks and amendments, the individual product areas will be getting some screenshots and a contact form will be going up on the contact page. Personally I'm not happy with the homepage and the About Us page (the text of which needs revising) our little text boxes seem to look really dull on their own!

http://www.taintedwoods.co.uk/

As ever all opinions welcome and hopefully we'll get this finished over the next month with some quality feedback =D

On the whole I find your website hosting design quite refreshing and strikingly simple but I am very distracted by your logo (name), thinking it would be so much better if it weren't in (a fairly lightweight and oddly-spaced) Verdana! To me it's too thin and straggly — my preference would be to avoid a body text altogether, but then you may have other reasons for your choice that I haven't grasped yet?!

Other observation/question: why "Taintedwoods, LLC" in the copyright notice? Is it registered in that form, rather than "TaintedWoods"?

Fantastic website hosting - simplicity at its best. Gets to the point with exactly the content it needs.

Huge thumbs up - keep it up!

First of all I really like the design and colours, and you have used CSS on your website hosting, good one. I would just like to point out on the index of your website hosting you do have to scroll down quite a few times to start seeing the welcome content, etc. so I recommend positioning the welcoming content first. Such a little modification but I think it would be useful .

You have a really good website hosting and it seems that you'll be providing some satisfactory services. Good luck .

I only have to scroll once but yes really the "welcome" content should be in view without having to scroll. Maybe the images above it could be made a little smaller?

Yes the website hosting looks very good, also a look at the markup shows it's been well crafted too.

Did you use a CMS? If so you're using URL rewriting I guess as you've got good (Search Engine Optimization) friendly URL's?

I assume(d) that it was all done without using a CMS.

Maybe TaintedWoods can shed some more light on this?

There's me asking for pointers and I go and disappear for a week! Combination of new house and no Internet over the weekend has very much restricted my time.

I agree on the font, it made it look really different at first but now it just looks silly! As for the copyright notice its hit and miss atm, we were setting it up as LLC, but we are also looking at a couple of other options, so for now that needs to come off really.

The main problem here is poor planning really, we had a design, then tweaked it a little too much, mainly my fault as I wanted those product hotspots, but then the text (Search Engine Optimization friendly) became obsolete in the human sense, so i'm having a think on the best way to solve that.

It's not using CMS although I was tempted to. Hence all the links are hand written, as mentioned Search Engine Optimization friendly. Was going to useWebsite Hosting Baker for the CMS as I really cant cope with Joomla! it feels so over the top when all you really want to do is edit page content on what is essentially a product showcase website hosting, not really a news portal. Ultimately, I'm happier using code regardless, so for us CMS would have been largely pointless.

I must say though, it wouldn't have looked any different and the links would still have been Search Engine Optimization friendly if I'd have usedWebsite Hosting Baker as it creates all the pages as files from the 'menu title' which then individually request the database info, rather than just http://www.domain.co.uk/page.php?=12

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has commented here, everything has been really positive and the suggestions are very much appriciated. In the meanwhile... have a glance over this, we've nearly finished with it, about 80-90% complete. Again not CMS as we'll be managing it, but we built a simple gallery system with categories and integrated lightbox into it so the client can upload their new photographs as needed with the side menu being populated from those category results.

Even if that site's under construction it looks like it was done by a pro! Nice job! lol

I like the nice colors, and you're planning on having your own made cms? Awesome. Looks good to me. lol
