Whats the best web site software for a newbie?
I have 2 ready made website hostings but I am thinking of having a go myself.
A work coleague has purchased Xsitepro and recommends it. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Mark,
You can try the ready made web-templates from SiteBuilder (Windows) & SiteStudio (Linux).
Hope someone here has tried it once as it's rather easy way to build website hostings.

Yes I would go with Dreamweaver - but it is a bit of a learning curve if your used to using something relatively easy with less features!

I would suggest you to refer few tutorials rather than book, I hope this will help you; smashingmagazine.com/2007/04/04/adobe-dreamweaver-tutorials/

yes anything you can find in a paid book you can most likely find for free on the Internet and verify it at different sources to make sure it is reliable information.

Another program you should try is NetObjects Fusion. I've had a play with it and think it's good for beginners like yourself.

Can't seem to get SiteBuilder to install.
Tried the network install as well as the full download (twice) and neither has worked. It always has a problem with installing SQL Server - the installation stops about 10% of the way in and I am baffled.
