Default Server Migration went well, but ...

Hi guys,

I wanted to write a glowing report about how painless the Harrier migration was last night - my site monitors did not detect a glitch at the appointed time. Thanks.

It was also great to get the advance notice email.


BUT - slight fly in the ointment - the new Harrier IP address appears to be on the blacklist of frontbridge.com (part of Microsoft exchange services) so I have already had incoming emails blocked ! I'm raising a ticket but it would be interesting to know if this is already affecting any others out there ?

No doubt the eukhost team will be able to sort this out quickly!

Thanks for appreciation of migration process

I've got the IP address delisted from spamcop as it got blacklisted for incorrect setup of mail server. All new servers are immediately blacklisted by spamcop and spamhaus for this reason and we need to get those delisted once setup is completed. We will figure out some solution to setup mail server prior to getting servers online.

Yes - In an ironic twist eukhost.com itself is blocking mail from Harrier !

I got it delisted before I replied.

Great - and 87.blacklist.zap; / @frontbridge.com seems to have delisted us as well !

Are they many independent blacklist databases out there - or do they share resources ??

(i.e. are there others that need to be separately notified?)

They copy RBL listing from spamcop and spamhaus. not sure what made them to add this policy of blacklisting servers which are setup with localhost.localdomain as hostname but we have modified our server setup process to avoid this problem in future.

Sounds good - with a system that big and the automated process that they have in place it must detect the innocent localhost.localdomain entry as something more sinister.

Just to dwell on the IP blacklisting part, CBL is also a source of data. An IP blocked by CBL would invariably be also blocked by spamhaux . . .
