Default Any Chance Of Resurrecting the "Best Site" competition?

I noticed ages ago that in "eUKhost Announcements" there is a post about submitting your URL for you website hosting and have the best decided and a kind of "winners list" published.

I notice that the link to submit your URL is still active but noted that the closing date was November 2005.

Is there any chance of resurrecting this kind of competition? There doesn't necessarily have to be a prize - maybe just some way of submitting our website hosting to a list and then everybody is allowed to vote for the website hosting they think is best.

Then when the competition is closed there can be a "Top 10" produced in order of most votes first or something like that.

I think it will be really interesting and will most definitely encourage people not only to submit their website hostings into the competition but I am sure it will also bring more traffic to the forums and therefore more activity as well as to eUKhost in general (and possibly more customers ).

I hope you will take this idea into consideration because I for one would really like it!! Theres nothing for anyone to lose (theres no entry fee and no prize - apart from being crowned "eUKhostWebsite Hosting Champion"! ) and it will be great fun.

I for one would really like to see this happen and I hope I am not the only one!

I didn't say my website hosting was any milestone to judge by!! lol. Although I would make a good effort for the competition and in general for a better experience for my visitors.

I don't necessarily think I will win (although that would be nice!) - I just think it would be great to have that kind of competition going.

Maybe every month a winner who is at the top at the end of every month can get an "eUKhost Web site hosting Of The Month" image to put on their site?

See how much fun we could have with this!

my website hostings currently being updated i do have a small screeny of it somewhere... i run a gaming website hosting it must be about 7 years old now i have staff who write reviews of all the games we are sent for free. They keep my website hosting to date and i allow them to access the free games im sent they also get too keep them.

All i get is hopefully a good name for myself and alittle respect from fellow gamers, its more of a hobbie to me tho.

ok here we are.... theres some coloured boxes which aint normally there.. i just highlighted them for a reason to show someone somthing.

Glad to see some interest in it.

You never know, eUKhost might help us set it up and run it as it would no doubt bring traffic in for both the forum as well as the main eUKhost website hosting .

I think there should be a kind of prize for winning each "Best Site" competition, like maybe a link from eUKhost on their main site? When my website hosting is released, I am definitely in .

Well I wasn't asking for a prize but if one was offered ..... lol.

But seriously, I think it would be a competition for both the people who enter and eUKhost. And I really think there should be a custom "award" that is made that can be added to the best website hosting winner each month and the image links to a page on eUKhost that confirms eUKhost did actually declare that website hosting a winner one month rather than someone just stealing the image!!

it wont be possible to run the competition through forum as we will need many functionalities included to rate various aspects like design, look & feel, advanced functionalities and many more things. we will need a separate interface like we had for topsites sometime back. our topsite program became huge headache for us later onwards coz spammers started attacking it for some unknown reason.

Robert has that code with him so I'll see if he can put it back or get something else in place of previous topsites. If you can suggest something else then let me know.

I realised that it couldn't be done on the forum, i just thought as it had been done before it would have been easy to reimplemenet. Didn't realise that it was loads of problems in the past.

Well if you can do it that would be cool, but if not oh well!

I will have a think of some suggestions on how to implement it and if I think of something I will post it here.

Thanks for trying! (and hopefully we will be able to set it up!)

I think it would be good to bring back the 'Top Sites' competition. I think that it could help many people gather traffic for their website hosting, which should hopefully lead through to getting returning visitors and alot more traffic.

As for implementing it, this could become quite a hard area because of spammers etc. I've been faced this scenario with building the video testimonials system - although it's going to be video being uploaded and not text being posted, you may still get the odd idiot coming along and ruining it.

Sounds like a good idea - I can see why it would work - I would enter it! .

Yes, if we can just get the implementation sorted it would be great for both eUKhost and its customers (and boost traffic to both).

You never know Robert might be able to work out an ingenious solution if we are lucky - I have faith in him!
