Default Change host pitfalls

Hi

I have a site that is being hosted else ware.

I do not have any control over it as it is hosted and changed by a third party.

I own the domain name and can move it if I wish.

This site comes up on first page of google.

If I copied the site and hosted it here would I loose my google placing?

Thanks

Colin

Google does not rank the IPs or the server but the site URL. It will not affect your Google ranking if you move hosts/servers... unless you have a major down time or broken URLs.

I agree with euk-Martin,the Page Ranking will remain unaffected since the domain name is same, just make sure don't change the theme & site structure.

Thank you both for your quick and helpful advice.

Me thinks a move is on the cards.
