seems like the database was in migration process and you made changes in one which was already copied to godaddy and now when the database runs from godaddy servers then your changes are not there on godaddy side.

hopefully this time your changes have gone on right server so you should not face any problem now. I've seen this sort of problems many times due to migration of servers.

Would have been nice if RegisterFly had emailed you a warning to say this might happen during the migration process, or even GoDaddy for that matter.

Mind you, I suppose seen as though RegisterFly were being taken over they probably didn't really care .

I don't think Registerfly propogated the changes to the TLD main "world" DNS servers as I made the change over a month ago originally. I think godaddy presumed, quite reasonably, that they had and so displayed them in the control panel. When I "reapplied" them today godaddy pushed them to the "world" DNS servers and all is now happy as these now show up on dnsstuff.com as well.

That sounds a reasonable reason why the problems you had occurred.

At least you are a GoDaddy customer now. I have and still use them and have never had any problems with them so hopefully you won't now either.

Hopefully RegisterFly being taken over by GoDaddy was a blessing in disguise .

Godaddy and Enom seem to compete with propagation time. newly registered domains come online in less than 5 minutes and DNS changes propagate with 1 - 2 hours. I would have never imagined this before 3 years.

I know, it is really good these days that the speed they manage to get things done. It must also be helped with the advances in technology over the past few years that have made lots of things on the Internet faster and more efficient - not least the great increase in broadband speeds.

Well it's gone wrong again. All was fine and working and I pinged again today and now the second nameserver (ns2.hostingden.com) resolves to the old IP address again!

Hmmm that doesn't sound good.

Have you tried contacting GoDaddy support for some answers to see if they are experiencing some difficulty at this time as an after affect of the migration process?

This is the reply I got:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting Online Support. I have reviewed your account and checked your settings and everything is setup correctly. Nameservers do not ping the same way as a hosted website hosting. You can verify this information by clicking on the link provided below. I apologize for any confusion.

I seam to have the same problem, but this time with 123reg. After my account was moved servers, I went through my list of domains, and changed all the nameservers, but some of them seem to have reverted back to the old settings! Is it possible that our two problems have a common cause, or is it just a coincidence?

It sounds like yours is a different problem as you appear to be changing them for each of your hosted domains, whereas I am talking about my own nameservers.

Well apparently there is not a problem! I was pinging them and not getting the IP I was expecting (or even close to it). Have not tested it with any website hostings by pointing them at my nameservers.

Well seen as though there doesnt appear to be a problem at either end maybe you should try and set up a test website hosting to use it with and see if it sheds any light on the situation?

Just pinged it again and now both are pinging to the correct addresses! I had a test website hosting I set up the other day and that is working.
