Default Changing your own nameservers

Hi,

Don't know if anyone has seen or can help with this. I have my own nameservers which all the domains I host point to. When I moved to eUKhost for a reseller account I went to registerfly.com (who my domain and nameservers are registered with) and updated my nameservers to ping to the eUKhost IPs. This seemed to work and they updated, but then one of the nameservers reverted back to the old IP?!

Has anyone seen this before? I have logged a ticket with registerfly but it's frustating! In the mean time I have gone through all my domains and pointed them directly to the eUKhost nameservers, which was very time consuming and why I use my own nameservers!

I've never heard of this happening before... are you sure your nameservers are registered at the parent servers? I thought RegisterFly were dead...

I thought Registerfly was finished after all the problems they had?

Registerfly has now been taken over by godaddy.com!

Although this still does not resolve my original nameservers problem. They show up correctly in my godaddy account but do not resolve to the correct addresses when I try and ping them! Have submitted a support ticket to godaddy so hopefully I will get a response!

How are you doing this exactly? Are you adding them as nameservers so that they go to the parent servers, and waiting for them to come up as listed in the parent servers?

Problems arrising with your nameserver configuration are probably in regards to the fact that RegisterFly have been taken over by GoDaddy - and it wouldn't surprise me that during this process there were a few DNS errors etc.

I suggest you wait for your reply from RegisterFly who should be able to resolve your web hosting.

I tried modifying my own nameservers when I moved to eUKhost when it was still registerfly. Although they appear to show up correctly with the eUKhost IPs when I ping them they resolve to my old hosting provider. It looks like they haven't been pushed to the internet DNS servers.

Hello Olie,

It takes less than 12 hours this days for nameservers to propagate so there seems to be something else with your nameservers.

please open a ticket on our helpdesk and provide me with a ticket number to find out whats wrong with your nameservers.

It sounds like you haven't actually pointed any domains to them yet. It's most likely that you have set them correctly. Try setting a domain to them and see what happens.

I no longer have any domains pointed at my own nameservers as they weren't resolving to the correct IPs and the domains were not working (even after 72 hours). Even if I do not have a domain pointed at them surely I should be able to ping NS1.HOSTINGDEN.COM and get the eUKhost IP? Instead I get the old host IP which also has no domains pointing at it?! I have pointed another domain at it just in case but I can;t see this fixing it.

This could be one of two things:

A) The nameservers haven't propagated with your ISP
B) You have a DNS cache on your PC

Run this from your command prompt and then try again:

ipconfig /flushdns

Flushing the DNS won't make any difference. I think the cause is propogation, as the A records are still resolving to the old IPs when I ping at my end.

Then the problem is obviously with RegisterFly and not eUKHost.

NS1.HOSTINGDEN.COM is now pointing to our servers. It seems that you have managed to get it sorted.

seems like you got trapped in migration process of Registerfly domains => Godaddy.

Both were not working previously when it was still registerfly. I applied the same addresses again and it seems to have sorted itself out. It did this last time though and reverted back so I will check again in 48 hours.

It probably reverted as RegisterFly were in termoil and something probably went wrong along in the transfer process.

Hopefully now you should have no more problems with it and everything will work correctly .
