Directory structure for hosting multiple sites

I currently only have one website hosting and I'm about to move it here.

However, as eUK Host accounts allow for multiple website hostings (with multiple domain names) I may well be creating more website hostings in the future and want to get started with a good structure. Is there a standard way to structure the multiple website hostings on one account? What I mean what's the best way to keep the code of each website hosting separate? I assume everything needs to go under public_html. So would something like

public_html/
  site_1/
  site_2/
  site_3/

work well? Can the root of each website hosting can be pointed to using the domain settings in the cpanel?

If you add a addon domain like eukdns.com then a default directory would be shown with name eukdns at the time of adding the addon domain. You can change it as per your convenience but mostly people prefer to keep the first part of the domain name while adding addon domains. If you choose eukdns as the directory name then a directory would be setup in your public_html with the name eukdns where you need to upload contents of eukdns.com.

Its not that confusing and you can easily figure out this while adding the addon domains.

So using your example, if I signed up with the domain eukhost.com that would go directly under public_html and when I added a new domain eukdns.com that would go into a directory eukdns under public_html (using the defaults)?
