Default Moving hosting to EUK from UK2

Hi,

I have some websites already hosted with EUK and one with UK2. Can somebody please advise me of the procedure to move my other site from UK2 to EUK?

Cheers,
Martin

It would depend on what you have there?

Domain?
Database?
Files?
Forum?

Hi Martin,

Please let me know what type of domain you have left with UK2. is it a .co.uk domain or .com ?

Morning,

sorry - I forgot to say. There's nothing there other than a domain name that redirects to another site at the moment.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,
We need the domain name to be able to help you as .com and .co.uk etc. have different ways of being transferred.

If you want to keep your domain and UK2 and host your site at eUK you would have to get them to change the nameservers to the ones you're supplied by eUK. It will then resolve to your eUK account.

Hi again,

sorry, I'm not quite with it today! It's a .co.uk - ccesurbiton.co.uk.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,
I would suggest what you do is upload your site to your eUK account, create the mailboxes etc. and then ask (or do it yourself) UK2 to point your nameservers to the ones supplied by eUK. This will mean your site will start to resolve from the eUK server. After that, you could migrate your domain if you wanted to but if you can leave it with UK2, you could do that as well. You'll pay eUK for your hosting and UK2 for the domain in this situation.

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. There's no content on the website as such to move, I just have it on a re-direct to our head office for now.

What I really wanted to do is to move the domain registration to EUK, so I have everything in the same place - if the website is offline for a few days in the meantime it won't really matter either.

Is this something I need to initiate with UK2 or EUK? If it's UK2, what information do I need to be giving them? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I'm not too up on all this.

Cheers,
Martin

If you go on to livechat, the billing team will be able to guide you through it.

What you will need to do for moving the domain is tell UK2 to change the IPS tag to ENOM. As I say, talk to the eUK people before you do this as they will be able to tell you exactly what to do.
