Default Moving Sites with Zero Downtime?

I have been wondering if zero downtime is possible when moving sites from ABCHOST to EUKHOST.

Then I thought the following may work but not sure. Assumptions are that your ns1 & ns2 is pointing to ABCHOST

1. Set NS3 & NS4 to EUKHOST
2. After 24-48 or 72 hours swap values for NS1 and NS3, NS2 & NS4
3. Now ns1 & ns2 would be pointing to EUKHOST. ns3 & ns4 pointing to ABCHOST (current)
4. Once propagated, move your sites to EUKHOST and remove ns3 & ns4.

Would this work?. Can I achieve zero down time?.

Zero downtime can be achieved. We have done this for customers before. Just ensure that your server with the previous host is still alive during the migration period and for about a week more after it.

Do let us know if you would like us to help.

Yes Nick, I need help. I have been with another hosting company for the past 3 years. They used to be good but not now. That was the main reason I switched to EUKHOST. I am quite satisfied here.

Now I have decided to move many of my sites to eukhost. Only couple of them are busy sites for which I prefer zero down time as I am expanding rapidly.

The only question is here I have cpanel whereas there they use h-sphere control panel.

Would you still be able to help me for a zero down time?.

0 downtime is possible in this case as well. All you need to do is get your data copied on our servers and then restore all the databases. Setup all mailboxes manually and verify everything with temporary URL which should be like http://IP-address/~username/

Once everything looks perfect then proceed with nameserver changes. H-Sphere to cPanel migration process has to be done manually from your end as there's no tool to migrate H-Sphere accounts to cPanel. We've done H-Sphere to cPanel migration for some of our shared servers in 2003 and 2004 and I know how painful it is to do everything manually

Thank you. I will start my trial with one of my not so busy site. Will touch base should I get into any trouble.
