Default name servers

Hi, I've had a look through the forums for my partticular issue, but couldn't find anything...apologies if I've missed it!!

I registered a domain best-properties.uk.com with 123.reg and set it up to web forward to a free asp host.

Now that I've set up hosting with eukhost I've changed the nameservers with 123.reg to those named in my "welcome email" ie win23.eukdns.com and win24.eukdns.com and switched off web forwarding.

Is my thinking too simplistic that now I've changed the nameservers with 123, anybody visiting the URL best-properties.uk.com should see the files I've uploaded to euk host, or am I missing something?

ps I changed the name servers about 24hrs ago and have been sat here drinking coffee ever since!!

Any guidance will be appreciated

Pete

Yes, change the name servers to win23.eukdns.com and win24.eukdns.com at your registrar (123reg) end so that your domains will start resolving from our name server and will point to eukhost server.

You can verify new name server using any DNS tool.

Thanks for the quick reply

At the risk of sounding stupid, what do you mean by:
"You can verify new name server using any DNS tool"

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick!!

Hi there,

What Matthew is referring to is the fact that you can use DNS tools such as those provided at intodns.com in order to check the status of your domain, including whether or not it has taken up the use of the new nameservers that you have assigned it yet.

Feel free to post back with anymore questions.

Thanks for the info

I've just run the domain through intodns.com

Its showing the Domain NS records as ns2.123-reg.co.uk. and ns.123-reg.co.uk.

Should these not have been updated to the eukdns servers when I changed the name servers at 123.reg?

Hi Pete,

You will need to change nameservers of your domain name and make those point to our servers. Please check following video tutorials to learn how to change your nameservers from your 123-reg control panel :-

Thanks for the reply, but clicking the links you provided got me a pop up window with this:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /1/tutorials/dns_123-reg.htm on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request

Thanks for your time.....I watched the video and it's exactly what I've done.
I guess I expected the changes to happen more quickly (must learn to be more patient!!!). I changed them about 24 hours ago, so I shall just wait and see.

Thanks again

Pete

Hi Pete,

Your domain name has started resolving from our servers. Everything looks perfect with the nameservers you have set from your 123-reg control panel.

Thanks for the reply

When the domain is accessed it's still bringing up a 123.reg page.
How do I make it display the default page of my eukhost files?

Sorry for taking up so much of your time!!!
