Question regarding uploading

Hi all

Is it possible to upload to the IP instead of domain? My domain isnt being forwarded as of yet and I thought that I could get to the website hosting I am building by simply typing out the ip?

I can connect the FTP to it just fine but where do I upload to? (which directory?). Just about tried uploading to every directory possible, yet when I enter the above IP nothing's shown.

that is a shared IP - and many accounts, each with multiple website hostings share it. When the domain is finally propagated the nameservers at that IP will then filter your domain name through to your account and the relevant folder therein.

As for knowing which folder to place your visible html documents, if you're on a windows server it will most likely be the www directory; if you're on a linux hosting it'll most likely be the public_html directory.
