Smile Redirect browser without changing browsers' address bar

Hi

We have a Platinum Account, with 2 Domains, and 2 Windows hostings.

www.1.com
www.2.com

(I know, we would be ultimate cyber-squatters if we really owned these domains )

Each hosting has its own static IP Address as each one has its own individual SSL certificate.

Is it possible for web browsers pointed at www.1.com to be redirected to www.2.com, but for the browsers address bar to not change i.e. still show www.1.com.

I won't go into why we would like it this way, we just do

Any options or insight would of course be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

We have installed ISAPI Rewrite modules on our windows shared servers. You will need to set your custom rules through DotnetPanel for this redirect. You will need to set redirect rules in .htaccess files to redirect website.

You can also get in touch with our windows support team for further assistance.

Hi Jack

Thanks for getting back so quick

You probably know what's coming next!

I have create a httpd.ini file:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]
RewriteRule (.+) http\://www.2.com

I have have put this file in this folder:

\PlatinumAccountName\1.com\wwwroot\.htaccess

When i point a browser to http://www.1.com, it doesn't redirect to www.2.com

Have a missed something?

Hello,

We have ISAPI_Rewrite V3 installed on DotnetPanel so you just need to upload rules in .htaccess files. You can remove httpd.ini and simply upload .htaccess under 'WWWROOT' folder of 1.com

If you email your request with domain at support email address then our Windows admin will try to set rules for you.

Thank you kindly for the offer - It is greatly appreciated as Regular Expressions ain't easy!

Unless only the server administrator can add rules, i'd like to do it myself though.

I just need confirmation that my httpd.ini is in the right place, then i can try and get my head round the RegEx.

If anyone is listening, however , who are pretty handy with RegEx, then the command to redirect a browser pointing at www.1.com to www.2.com, but keeping the browsers' address bar saying www.1.com would be greatly appreciated.

If I find that I haven't the brain for RegEx William, then I'll take you up on that offer

Success! Or at least, some success.

I've got my .htaccess file working now - so i'm RegEx'ing myself to the finishing line

Thumbs up

Incase it's useful to someone, here is the ISAPI Version 3 RewriteRule to solved our problem:

# Helicon ISAPI_Rewrite configuration file
# Version 3.1.0.63

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.2.com/$1 [NC,P]

Thanks William & Jack.
