Default Remote mySQL Access

I want to use a program like SQLyog, or similar, to remotely manage my mySQL databases, without needing to go through the cPanel, and phpMyAdmin. Can anyone tell me what ocnnection strings I need to use, because I can't seen to connect to the server ATM.

That, or could someone recommend me a better free program?

Hello Bumcheekcity,

For remote access to be enabled please go into your control panel and add the IP you want to allow. Do this from "Access Host" in the MySQL section of your control panel.

Hi bumcheekcity
Use SQLyog enterprise (30 day trial) and copy the file SQLyogTunnel.php to the root of your server
Then the connection string in the http tunnel tab is www. MY-DOMAIN.com/SQLyogTunnel.php and on the server tab it is localhost and username and password
Worked fine for me to access both linux (where I guess you are) and windows MySQL databases.
Hope this helps - David

Is there any way to do this through a free program that anyone's found?
