Default Web Hosting Explanation Please

Hi
This is probably the wrong place - but there isn't a logical place to ask this!

I found out today( inadvertantly) via Support that the IP address for 2 domains I manage has changed.
How did I find out?
Well, I was updating via FTP, seeing the files on the server (via FTP) but they were not on the web site!
Well, they were on a website hosting - just not the one I was updating!
Now this has only recently changed (last week or so)
I have asked the question why? but no-one seems to want to answer me or even acknowledge the mail.
Should I be speaking with someone else!

Hello George,

Our weekly SMART check analysis predicted another drive failure on concorde and we were left with no time to inform customers on concorde.

We had full backup of concorde on our backup servers and we copied that data on a new server. We then initiated rsync synchronization from concorde as this process had to copy only modified data on the new server. This process completed in less than 30 mins and we immediately changed IP addresses of the nameservers of concorde and additionally pointed all domains to the new servers IP address.

Rsync was ran in such way that none of our customers lost even a single email or post of their busy forums / blogs. You must have noticed improved performance of your website hosting and now you are on a latest Dell Xeon Server with completely new hardware.

We could not notify this in advance as its really difficult to convince all customers how efficiently we can manage such technical problems.
