I am trying to set up a gaming community/clan and would like to no what kind of host would work or how i should pick one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, if you just want a forum or something like that, you'll probably want a shared host as I doubt you'd have a huge amount of usage initially. If you were setting up a gaming server, you'd be looking at a dedicated server as they are resource intensive.

You should consider the latest Dual Core or Quad Core Xeons as Intel has improved quality of its CPU's in the latest Core 2 Duo's. Power consumption of this CPU's is very low and the CPU heating is very less.
