Default 554: This Server requires PTR for unauthenticated connections

I have a friend who gets this error sent to them when they try and email me. I have a Windows Reseller Hosting account with eukhost, and the domain in question is rlwarner.com.

After doing a bit of googling, I think it is something to do with the reverse DNS entries, but was hoping that someone would be able to help me.

This has been sorted now.

MailEnable was considering hostname as ukhostsupport.com while the reverse DNS has been setup on tucano.eukhost.com

We have sorted this and you should not face any problems now.

Default Problem

I have my friend email me this morning, and she tells me that it is still bouncing back with the same error.

Will it take 24hrs to propogate through?

It has propagated from our end but it may take some time from her end depending on the ISP she is using for internet service.

Please ask her to wait for some time and then try it or ask her to run following command from her systems command line :-

telnet 87.117.201.122 25

if the output gives tucano.eukhost.com then the problem is sorted from her end as well. If not then ask her to wait for some time.

Alternatively you can open a ticket on our helpdesk and one of our windows system admin can dig into this problem.

Hi,
Most probably the problem seems to be at your friend's end, since no one else complained to you and you can send mail to yourself (from another account, i assume).

If you don't mind disclosing, What's your email ID? Let me try to send you a mail and see what happens.

My email is richard @rlwarner.com. It does appear that everything is working OK, and I am able to receive other emails from other people, so I agree that it must be at their end.

Would just like to say thanks to all the eUK guys for their help on this one, much appreciated.

You're most welcome Richard.

Just out of curiosity, I am also suspecting that the message bounced was from the sender's server. They may not be using authentication ("my server requires authentication" or POP before SMTP kinds) due to which their mail sending server rejects mail from the sender, not your server.
