Default About .org Domain Name

Does .org domain seems for "free organization" ? I am getting a preferred domain name on this extension and planning to create a website obviously it would be not free, so can I pick that domain name. Please suggest.
Thanks in advance!

.org domains are not necessarily associated with free organizations or non profit organizations nowadays as opposed to a few years ago when.org domains were not about commercial businesses, but rather the organizations most likely to be a non profit ones.

But they are now used for commercial purposes as well and if your preferred name is available with the .org extension I think you should go for it.

Dot-org is mostly related to not for profit organizations or large organizations who are not really involved in any kind of business.
Well if your purpose is do business IMO going for a dot-org won't be a good move. The general tendency regarding dot-org is
as mentioned above and this may have a negative effect on your website.
Majority of people are not so computer savvy and they assume that most of the websites end with the extension dot-com.

These .org domains were considered as top level domains and were owned by only non profit organisations. But this is not the case nowadays. Now it is possible that anybody can register with .org domain. Although anyone can register with .org domain, but few domains now has extensions country wise.
For ex:.org.uk, .org.de etc.

Paul, I think if you are getting your preferred domain name at .org then you should go for it as what Ryan just mentioned above it seems that there’s no problem with it as well you are getting the domain name of your choice for which nowadays people really have to hunt for a good one of their preference.

Very Sad. If you are not getting your preffered one now, then you can think of .com instead of .org. What do you think? Or is there anything else that you want to stick to .org.
