Default Domain Name Renewal Fees after transferring to EUKhost

On 4th September 2007, I transferred the following 4 domain names over to EUKhost from my previous hosting providers. I paid EUKHost £18 for each domain and was told this would be for 2 years. I do realise that the Whois renewal dates for each of these domains shows the anniversaries I initially purchased them so are totally different dates, as follows:

stkittsvet.co.uk Renewal date: 21-Feb-2008
webpalette.co.uk Renewal date: 24-Sep-2009
aswanicats.co.uk Renewal date: 29-Aug-2008
hartscoon-mainecoons.co.uk Renewal date: 24-Oct-2008

However, I naturally assumed that the next time I’d pay EUKhost for their renewal would be 4th September 2009.

But! I checked this out with billing and have been told that I have to pay for each of the domains on the respective dates shown above. So why did I have to pay for 2 years?

Confused

Many thanks! I don't know about a "ticket". I sent an initial email on the 6th October entitled 'Very Concerned' which included this query, amongst others. Staff have been very helpful with my other queries which are now sorted, but this one, after a few more emails still isn't. The latest email ref number is #EFK-59291-850, but that number relates to another (sorted) issue. I guess they must have done a 'reply' to the wrong email??

Gosh, these tickets are so confusing!

This has been sorted. I have renewed 3 of your domains which will now need to be renewed in 2010 and not before that. only webpalette.co.uk needs to be renewed in September 2009.

You can check whois info from http://webtools.eukhost.com/domain_whois.php and verify these with the information in billing system.

Many thanks for your support, but forgive me as I am still very confused.

I received an email this morning from billing saying, “You have paid us for domain transfer for your domains and hence you have to pay for their renewal on dates which were provided before.” Are they saying my £18 per .uk domain for 2 years was only for domain transfer, and not for renewal???

You say you have renewed 3 of my domains up to 2010, but I paid on Sept 4th 2007, so would assume renewal dates would be 4th September 2009 (not 2010). I have checked Whois, as you suggested, but only stkittsvet.co.uk shows a renewal date of 2010. The Renewal dates for the other 2 domains are unchanged:
aswanicats.co.uk: Renewal date: 29-Aug-2008
hartscoon-mainecoons.co.uk Renewal date: 24-Oct-2008

Yet, in my Billing under ‘Packages’ all these 3 domains give ‘Renew Date’ as 2010 but under ‘My Domains’ the expiry dates are as they were before, i.e.

aswanicats.co.uk 2008/08/29
hartscoon-mainecoons.co.uk 2008/10/24
stkittsvet.co.uk 2008/02/21

I see from this thread Domain Transfer to eUKhost that I am not the only person confused about this issue. The individual was told in that thread “Your domain name will be renewed for next 2 years for the amount that you have paid. This part is completely managed by our billing system so you wont need to pay anything for renewal of the domain name till 2010.”

This is driving me crazy! Is there anywhere in EUKhost (maybe a tutorial) which states clearly what the £18 per 2 years is for? Is it for domain name renewal (as I would assume), or for domain transfer (as stated in emails by Billing)?

Thank you in advance and apologies if it it just me being stooopid.

Hello Julia,

When you got your domains transferred under our registration then your 3 domains excluding webpalette.co.uk had 1+ years registration period left with them so that has got added to the 2 years additional renewal that we have done.

Now only webpalette.co.uk shows 2009 renewal date while all other domains are showing 2010 renewal date from my end. Please recheck in the morning.

Hello,

I see, thank you for explaining.

I have checked Whois a few times today and just now. Renewal dates for stkittsvet.co.uk and webpalette.co.uk are fine but hartscoon-mainecoons.co.uk and aswanicats.co.uk are still showing renewal date for 2008.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

I simply added 2 years to those domains but didn't check the status in the end. Now I saw what went wrong and it gave "Domain not yet eligible for renewal" in status section.

We will need to wait for few months to apply for renewal of both this domains.

No worries, thanks for explaining.

I seem to remember reading that you cannot renew a domain more than six months before its renewal date, which would explain.

I shall come back to this thread in a few months to remind you, if that's okay?

Thanks again for all you help.
