Red face Domain Name Theft

Hiya

I run a transport business in the Midlands, and on the 17/04/07, my domain names were stolen and website hostings went down.

I had my website hosting advertised in the com and co.uk formats.

As expected, the police said it was a civil matter.

The names were registered several years ago and on line for about 4 years.

Renewal was not due until Oct 2008.

I've searched 'whois and nominet, no jot.

The domain name registrant states that my password/etc must have been hacked.

What can i do as I am losing business that took years to buld up.

Thanks

Julie

It is due to weaknesses of your domain registrar those who are not reliable as their system lacks adequate security measures in place to prevent theft, so it is important that you should buy domain name from reputed and reliable registrar ONLY. Btw, do you have contacted your domain registrar?

If your domains were so old then definitely they would have got sold for high price as old domains are priced quite high no matter how many characters they have in them.

You need to figure out who owns those domains now and take action against them. If you provide me with necessary information about your domains then I can help you to get your domains back.

This is unfortunate. It is sad, but the more popular and longer a website hosting has been round the more attention it attracts. Good luck in getting your domains back!

Your domains have been stolen by the registrar itself. You need to contact nominet and launch a complaint against FIVERIVERS. Its really sad to see some registrar doing such job but make sure that you get them out of business by communicating with nominet.

People at Nominet are really good and you will loose some time in communication but you will get justice and I'll be really happy if you manage to get back your domain name with my suggestion. Reason they have stolen your domain name is due to its age. Your domain is really old and such an old domain is considered to be gold in online industry.

This doesn't sound good. Didn't think they were allowed to do it, or that they would have the cheek to.

I guess money corrupts! Good luck in getting your domains back.
