Question EPP codes

Hi, I'm buying a domain that someone else owned but is now expired; enom are still the registrars. I've written to the original reseller who say that for $15 'renewal fee' they will supply me with the EPP codes.

I'm worried that because they're saying 'renewal' the domain will be renewed in the ex-owner's name. Getting info from them is s l o w .

What are EPP codes? Will I be able to bring the domain here with it? I know it's vague, but any info would be appreciated.

I would be very cautious if the domain is going to be registered in the previous owners name - they can claim ownership even though you have paid then and denied access to it. I'm unable to find any information on EPP codes - the only thing close is Enhanced Parralell Port!

Thanks David. On balance I'm going to take this up - it's only $15 and we won't lose anything if the old owner comes back.

What were you doing up so late / early??

It wont be possible to get the domain transferred without "Domain transfer authorization EPP key" so there's no other option besides paying them $15 for renewal of the domain name. You will retain rewed registratiion period after transfer.

I was up early. Sometimes I work funny shifts and hours as I have a few jobs, some day based some night based. I DJ in different venues so sometimes I am up extremely late and then go to work the next morning and fall asleep when I get in at 4 or 5 in the afternoon - hence being up do early. With it being Christmas now I am quite busy with work .

Do I take it that the day jobs are IT related? What sort of music do you DJ?

Hi, just an update - the domain was $15, no hidden charges, it's registered in my name and I have access to the EPP code.

Thanks again for the support
