Default Most expensive 3 letter domain?

Honestly I don't know much about three charactor domains. So my question is what's the most expensive three charactor domain name that you know or ever heard of? Whether it is three charactors or less, there must be some huge companies out there with three charactor domains, and they must be real expensive as well.

Do you know any?

There quite impressive - but to be expected as well.

sex.com and porn.com would sell for loads considering around 75% of the Internet is pornograhpy!

Search Engine Optimization is also very important these days so it does not surprise me that that has recently gone for a lot of money.

And VIP.com - the most surprising of the lot but that is reflected in its much reduced price tag compared to the others - still for a domain though this is pretty good money!

With a little imagination perseverance you can still pick up good ones - maybe they won't be worth billions, but there are still a few that have been missed.

There are quite a few 4 character domains sold for millions:-

Shop.com: 3.5 million
wine.com: 3.3 million
beer.com: 7 million

More than the number of characters in a domain name, I think the domain name valuation depends on how generic the name is.

Yes I think your right on that one. And the more common / day-to-day the generic word is used then the more money it will go for. Such as shop (we all need to!), wine & beer (we don't NEED - well we do ) and sex (well need I say more!) .

Domains names are expansive due to there uniqueness, brandable and memorable names preferably all in .com even for 5 to 7 letters. However no one talked about msn.com, I think it should have greater value too.

msn.com would have great value - but chances of it selling? unlikely. I would say google.com would be the most expensive domain name to get.

Anyway from wikipedia:
Quote:
According to Guinness World Records and MSNBC, the most expensive domain name sales on record as of 2004 were: Business.com for $7.5 million in December 1999, AsSeenOnTv.com for $5.1 million in January 2000, Altavista.com for $3.3 million in August 1998, Wine.com for $2.9 million in September 1999, CreditCards.com for $2.75 million in July 2004, and Autos.com for $2.2 million in December 1999.

Google.com wont sell even if you manage to get all cash available on earth

msn.com and yahoo.com may be sold in range of $1000 - $5000 in coming few years.
