Question UK Domains

I currently have a fair few domain names and realised it would be more cost affective to go with a company like ResellerClub, eNom or such. This would also allow me to resell domains which is cool.

But I notice with all of these companies the cost of a .uk is actually more than a provider direct to the public. The closet one on price would be Easynic aka easynet, but I've read a fair few horror stories about them.

Even looking at Nominet if you became a member (£400 sign-up and £100 a year thereafter) and a registrar with them it still costs some £5 + VAT. (Normal fee £80 + VAT if your not a member)

So my question how can these other companies offer it cheaper, and is there no domain name wholesaler for .uk's around which does it less than what the public can already buy. It's pointless in paying more to eNom, GoDaddy, etc, for wholesale when you can buy retail cheaper.

Not sure but I guess the Nominet accredited registrars might be getting huge bulk discount, that could be the reason they're offering cheaper price.

I kinda thought the same, but assumed that Godaddy or enom or one of the others would of been able to do something a little better on price, like they do with other domain extensions. Reseller Club works out about £12 for the 2 years on their wholesale price.

I guess I'll have to keep my .uk's with a public account and take the others wholesale/reseller.

How do other smaller companies work that resell domains and web space on their servers, do they just make a loss/break even on .uk's and then profit on the others?

I don't think they're making any loss because they usually keep their margin after analyzing potential profitability through break even, as a whole on particular service, the reseller hosting business is good example to understand this.
