About rules... rules are for the rules-breaker... a good person need not bother about the law!
(S)he subconsciously knows what is right and wrong!
I follow certain self-made 'rules'. Like ... no spamming, no driving (writing) under 'influence' (well. I don't drink either
), smiling at and with all the members... well, it's like playing Cricket... old-fashioned way... play in the 'V' in the beginning, and get your eye in... play with honor and play for the team in the right manner... admire somebody's great innings... exchange greetings but play to win - the hearts! The great 'game' never ends till the last ball is bowled! In short, love the game you're playing and give your 100 percent to it! Chances are, you'll be loved for playing the game in the right spirit, and the game will give back thousand-fold more!
... Same with the forums! ...
The great cricketer is never taught the 'rules', (s)he is born with them!
