Access to Smarter Bundle

Wondered if someone could throw me a quick bone, in relation to SmarterTrack that I have installed on my VPS, from the freebie bundle (fabulous offer, by the way).

SmarterTrack is installed and working, but access to it is through an unusual port and not direct on the Domain. eg:

If I go to: www.<mydomain>.co.uk I get the main HTTP files I have created on the domain. However if I go to www.<mydomain>.co.uk:9996/ then I get to the SmarterTrack portal.

The simple solution of course, if just to place a holding page that just does a Meta "refresh" to push through to the proper location. But I'd like to understand why it's doing that.

Am I being stupid? Someone say Yes !!

Hi Kevin,

www.<mydomain>.co.uk works on port 80 (default IIS web server) whereas www.<mydomain>.co.uk:9996 (SmarterTrack) works on it's own web server [SmarterTrack Web Server] running on port 9996.

If you want to run the SmarterTrack application directly on your site [www.<mydomain>.co.uk] then you need to stop/disable IIS completely [so that there are no services running on port 80] & configure SmarterTrack Web Server to run on port 80. You can configure the SmarterTrack Web Server to run on a different port if you wish to, by following these steps:

Start > All Programs > Smarter Tools Inc > Smarter Track > Configure SmarterTrack Web Server > Change the port & restart [Stop/Start] the SmarterTrack Web Server from that panel.

Must be doing something wrong, or missing some trick.

IIS Application Pool isn't enabled or running (never has been).

I've changed SmarterTrack to operate on Port-80 (Stop - Change - Start) but when I try to access the page it just give me the default index.htm file I dumped in there as a holding page.

What else could I try?

Changing it back to Port-9996 immediately resolves the problem of course.
