As a Sales person I know that 4200 emails can be sent though a VPS Hosting, but one should consider a proper software to send those.

Its really difficult for a Sales person to differentiate emails sent through vBulletin forum and emails sent through phplist. We consider both to be same and its now that we know its not possible to push 4200 emails from vBulletin forum on a VPS Hosting.

As I said earlier, we don't have any other customer with a vBulletin forum as big as yours running on a VPS Hosting. Revenues start building up once the forum starts growing and people switch to Dedicated Server once they start facing such problems.

You can simply export your vBulletin user table from phpmyadmin and copy email address column in phplist and send notification through phplist. This should not take more than 5 - 10 minutes once you figure out how to export the user table from phpmyadmin.

Hi,
Thats a Good Idea.

Ive made a mailing list in the past where I write the email then post it to a php form which then grabs and exports through my MySQL Server emails as it takes so long to go through MySQL Server its seperates the batches of emails sent at a time.

Ah so now we have a problem of getting our members to donate even more money ( we are a non-profit making web site hosting that depends on donations and not adverts) to fund a dedicated server, or change our full mailing system ( That we had no problems at all with on our last shared hosting).

Oh well, thanks for the input from everybody, I am now going to have to break the news to my co-owner who I would expect to go through the roof

Reading other posts on the forum, I seem to be able to relate to other users with difficulties they are having.
In the past due to my own lack of knowledge I have contacted live support and instead of the prolems I have stated, other problems have been supposedly fixed.
A classic example of this was one I mentioned in this thread, I was not able to connect to my website hosting. The problem ( unknown at the time to me ) was because of MY ISP.
I tried to 'ping' the web site hosting and found I could not. I contacted Live support and the one reply I got was 'Try Now'.
Yes I could ping the site, but was still unable to connect to the web site hosting ( Not The Fault Of Eukhost).
After one or two questions went unanswered , I disconnected from support and found that
our firewall was disabled without explanation or anything.
Other problems have been like the time on our VPS Hosting....after contacting support every week for some time because our VPS Hosting gains 2-3 mins every week, each time I have been told that this has been solved....Only to find a week later I am contacting support again.
In our case it is our own lack of knowledge that has made me turn to Live support and in a couple of cases the origonal problem has been overlooked and other problems have been caused.
All we ask is that Live Support realise that we are not all as skilled as them.

I can park 45feet (44ton) of articulated vehicle in a parking place with 2 inches at either side !!!! But when it comes to VPS Hosting set ups....I am a little confused.

This again is not a complaint, it is just a bit of feedback to hopefully help You help other customers in the future.

You would be surprised to find you might know more than some support... as 1st line support is more customer service and generally anytime I contact support I undergo a similar experience.

I get an answer that it is working now... but never get an explanation what was causing the problem and therefore can only take their word that it is fixed. However, if the same problem comes up, it is the same process - so it appears fine in the short term and there is an underlying problem that isn't fixed (otherwise why would the same problem keep arising?).

The other night I raised a ticket as I couldn't access my VPS Hosting AND I couldn't access eukhost.com ... support told me it must be my ISP - strange that my ISP would block all sites hosted by eukhost.com and not any other web site hosting on the internet for that time period (I did check several other sites).

Normally if there is a problem and you are told it is fixed... it should be fixed and not papered over until it breaks again (and it helps if you are told what the problem was - whether it was something on the web site hosting causing the problem, something on another VPS Hosting on the server or something wrong in the hardware etc)

Hello,

We have checked and not found any problem on node. We have also checked and it is not a issue with the network provider as well. I am not sure about the previous problems but we can assure you that you will get full details of problems next time.

Hello Latona,

We are dealing with similar complaints in few other threads as well. You can check my reply in thread located at http://www.eukhost.com/forums/showth...ed=1#post28504

I can assure you that you wont see any similar problem in future. If you ever see anyone giving such answers to your tickets or chats then please let us know. Our QA team will take care of flagging any such chat transcript or ticket and necessary action will be taken by our management team to keep our customers happy.

For anybody else that may encounter the mass mail problem with vbulletin, I have come across a handy little addition that seems to have solved our problem.

Although it may take a little longer to send a large amount of emails, it does seem to have solved the high load problem.

It can be found at;

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=133844

I hope this may help some other vbulletin users.

Not at all, we are still having issues of members not been able to connect to the web site hosting from a wide range of isp's,(a ticket has been raised but no problem has been found) And we will have to wait and see if the server time problem has been solved,
But I suppose that this is one issue that I have sorted myself .
I will endeavour to sort the other problems out too

Well once again I have had a ' try it now' answer.

After not been able to get onto the site, log in with putty or even get into whm I contacted live support.

I explained my problem and also noted that the firewall was stopped.

I got ' try it now' and some lines of code.( which I don't understand)

I asked if there was a problem.....No reply

I asked if I can start the firewall and got 'Yes'

All I wanted to know was if there was a problem due to our end or a server problem.

I did notice that the server load had been high this is why I was attempting to see what had happened.

Sorry if it seems like I am moaning but as I have stated before.....I am not clever enough to sort these things

out.

It gets better......The banned ip addresses that we had in our firewalls 'deny ip' file, have disappeared !!!!

This was after the firewall was disabled without been told.

So now I have to dig these ip's out and re-add them.

Getting a bit fed up now !!!!!

Malcolm was recently moved in VPS Hosting Team as our VPS Hosting Team was getting overloaded. I am glad that it worked.

Just like to say that after sorting this email problem out with the vbulletin add on mentioned in one of the above posts, this HAS sorted our problem out.
I hope that the staff at eUKhost note this for any vBulletin users in the future that have similar problem with server load shooting up due to mass emailing through the Vbulletin control panel.

Our service has been running sweet as a nut since this was done.

I just like to post this because its about time I posted some of the good times we have with eUKhost and these times are defiantly in a higher percentage than the bad times

haha. You made me smile with quality of words you have put together

last 2 days have been really bad for me as I've been dealing with a troubled dedicated server of a corporate customer where we are not able to recover any of his data and customer never maintained any backups on his end. Your above post has helped me to recharge myself and proceed further with the data recovery process
