Default Anyone using RoundCube?

Hi all,

I was thinking about giving RoundCube a try on my VPS Hosting. I've read the install blog on this web site hosting and it seems reasonably simple to install. Has anyone got any first hand experience of it? I'm only going to use it for basic mail sending / receiving, nothing special but I do like the look of it over Horde, Squirrel etc.

Any comments?

Yes i saw that one. Sounds like it's worth a try anyway. Certainly seems to have a much nicer interface than Horde and Squirrel Mail.

Yeah, the interface is such that it brings a glow on the face but... the workflow/backend is the same as for Horde/Squirrel Mail

Ha! Well as long as it works as well as Horde that can't be bad. I'll probably have a go at installing it this weekend if I get chance. How hard can it be?... Boom!!!

It took me 10-15 mins to get it working for one site, you have an option to get it working server-wide too
Let me know if you need any further help into getting RoundCube running on your website hosting Best Luck !

Just an update,

I have now installed roundcube. I did get an error when applying the hostgeekz patch to one of the cpanel files (a cgi file I think). A "Hunk error at line 61"??

Anyway it all seems to work so maybe the above error wasn't important.

Something I would mention to the EUK admins is that the install blog on this web site hosting is a bit difficult to follow as the command lines flow onto a new line in places making it look like two seperate commands. This is fine if you're familiar with unix commands but if you're not like me it is pretty confusing. I actually ended up following another tutorial in the end .

I've also added a webmail subdomain with forwarding directly to the roundcube index page as this is the webmail client I want to use as default.

Thanks Rock!

I know it's not easy on that blog page because you've only got a relatively narrow center column to work with so squeezing long command lines in could be a problem.

cd /usr/local/cpanel/base/roundcube/skins/default/images/
cp –reply=yes
roundcube_logo.png /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x/images/roundcube_logo.png
cp –reply=yes
roundcube_logo.png /usr/local/cpanel/base/webmail/x/images/roundcube_logo.png
cd /usr/local/cpanel/base
wget http://www.hostgeekz.com/files/hostg...ndcube-0.1-rc1
patch -p0

I spent ages trying to get the command "cp -reply=yes" to work!

I've recently installed Roundcube and overall it's very promising. I did have a small glitch where some domains did not show all the default folders, so that took a bit of fiddling to get it sorted.

However, for a v0.1 release it's pretty good and I really hope it continues with active development. It's visually much more pleasing than horde or squirrel mail

Yes all my domains now use RC by default. It seems to be pretty good. Very nice to look at and I'm sure once the feature list is increased it will really give the likes of Horde and Squirrel a run for their money.

The only thing that is really bugging me with RC at the moment is that I don't seem to be able to select text in emails! Quite a fundamental requirement I would have thought. Unless I'm doing something wrong?
