Default Cannot log in to cpanel as other than reseller owner (preventing fantastico installs)

Hi,

I must be having dumb day -

Scenario:

I have a vps login, but when I go to the cpanel for the domain that the vps is associated with, I have to log in with the vps login, this prevents fantastico from working, as it says I cannot install anything as the owner/reseller of the domain - Am I being blind, I cannot find a way to login to my cpanel other than as the owner - i.e. I can't find an add user area to vps control panel, whm or cpanel.

How I got here was - I am just finding out things right now, and wanted to do a dummy setup on my reseller account, but I can't seem to access it as a normal hosted user.

Also - if I click on the IP link under list accounts from my vps login view, I get a 404 not found.
*EDIT* the ip link is of the form http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/~username/

Thanks for any help, guess I need a new to cpanel and vps guide.

Thought I would forum post instead of bugging support direct - they have been really helpful with my questions so far

Andy

Hello Andy,

Not sure if you have created a hosting account from your root WHM. You will have to create a hosting account from your WHM >> Account Function >> Create new account option. Here you will have to use a domain for which the hosting account will be created. While creating the hosting account, you will be asked for a user & password, this user & password will be used for accessing cpanel for that particular user.

If you have already created a cpanel account, to installed any script from fantastico, you will have to access the cpanel independently with the cpanel user & not from the WHM.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

So, I have a root WHM login, I also have a reseller login for the domain I am talking about, the user for this domain and the owner are the same userid (I migrated from a reseller to VPS the other day). I can only access the domain's cpanel using the userid listed under the domain (when I list accounts for example from the root whm).

When I access the domain via cpanel, I am told that I am the root or reseller for the domain (true, the domain is a reseller domain), but I cannot install anything from fantastico because of this - it says that because I am the owner or reseller I cannot install.

Thanks

Andy

Hello,

I will recommend you to open a support ticket on our helpdesk & provide the root login details with the reseller login details in the ticket. We will check this issue & sort this out for you.
