Clamav available on VPS ?
Hi,
Is there an easy way to get antivirus, e.g. clamav on a VPS install ? && have it scan email etc like spamassassin does ?
Thanks
Andy

Yes, it's possible to have ClamAV & SpamAssassin both installed on a cPanel control panel or a plain VPS

Hi,
Thanks for the reply - I can see spamassassin in the cpanel under 'mail', but can't see any clam-av entry - is there some generic clam package tailored for cpanel / whm I need to install ?
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
To install ClamAV, simply log into WHM control panel, go to the cPanel section and click "Plugins." Check the box next to "clamavconnector" and click save at the bottom of the page. This will install ClamAV

I thought ClamAV ate system resources and wasn't recommended? Or has that changed?

The makers of this wonderful piece of software have recently trimmed/optimised it a bit to use less amount of resources as compared to its previous usages

I have now removed Spamassasin and installed ASSP Deluxe including ClamAV on a VPS (smallest package).
Only the first few hours I had a bit higher loads but since then it all runs smooth without any peaks.
I like the combo and think that it does catch a lot more spam without false positives.

Thank you Dennis for sharing this info with us
I've been using Spamassassin for the last 6 years & yes, I do find it a bit CPU hogger, but I trust it when it comes to spam fighting
I find that the ASSP Deluxe package isn't available for free, but I'll try how this goes on one of test servers
