just before I start I'd like to say that up until now I've been very happy with eukhosts service, they're streets ahead of most of the other hosting companies out there and usually deal with any problems very quickly.
however, on the 9th dec I was told my VPS was corrupted and I should backup my sites for migration to a new VPS... no problem, I was told there was no hurry and to let them know when I had done it... I was about 1/3 through backup when the VPS fell over on the 17th and couldn't be resurrected, in hindsight I should have used the EUK backup facility, but haven't bloody thought of that til now
the team got the VPS reinstated with the backup they'd taken on the 9th, got my sites up and running, before 9am which was fantastic... no problems yet
but since then I've sent numerous requests and phone calls to support asking if there is any way to get a viable later backup, and Sam seemed to think there was, I've offered to pay for any time this takes to be done as I've lost quite a bit of work (as have some of my clients, which is more important)
last night I got an email saying;
Hello Gary,
We have checked and the data on your old VPS corrupted is of "19GB" and on your restored working vps is of "15GB" should we proceed further and restore the data on new VPS with the old one directly. Please confirm us so that we can proceed with it.
which was duly done...
however, this is the same data as was done originally, from the 9th... all the remedial work I did yesterday and all the fixes my clients had done have been wiped out
a phone call to support couldn't find the support ticket and basically fobbed me off and I'm currently sat here waiting for an explanation email from support (yesterday I waited 6 hours for them to reply)
as you can imagine my clients are going mental and I'm not happy
if there wasn't a later backup, why didn't someone just tell me and then I would have wasted 2 days in the hope of there being one?? this has just made a bad situation a lot worse
can someone who knows what they're talking about, please get back to me....
Gary
