Default eUKHost - We're short on hardware?

Hi,

Earlier today I ordered a Linux Semi Dedicated Server. Tonight I wondered when it would be setup and popped into live chat to ask.

Quote:
Dave: Hi, Alan. I ordered a semi dedicated server (Linux) this evening. Could you tell me how long it will be before it is ready please?

Alan V: May I know your registered email address ?

Dave: qube@syntaxbomb.com

Alan V: Give me a moment please. I am looking into this.

Alan V: We are running short of the hardware node due to which there is some delay in setting up your semi server. It is expected to get the new sever as soon as possible. Once we have the new server we will setup your server. We need your patience

Dave: how long will it be then?

Dave: you've taken my money though

Alan V: We will setup your semi server as soon as possible

Dave: sorry, but are we talking hours, days, weeks?

Alan V: We have ordered the server already

Alan V: Waiting for the shipment

Alan V: Your server will be setup within 24 hours

Dave: ok, thank you for the information

Dave: bye.

Alan V: Bye bye
Have I got it right that you've run out of servers and are awaiting more? - Also that it will be sorted and setup withing 24 hours? I don't want to go through the same four days wait like I did when trialing a hyper-vps.

I don't know if that's funny or worrying

Hi David

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and delay in setting up the semi dedicated sever. Your semi dedicated server has been setup now on one of our old hardware node and the welcome email has been sent to your registered email address.
Once the new hardware node is setup, we will migrate your semi dedicated sever from existing node. IP addresses will remain same so there will not be any downtime further during migration.

Thanks for the info and setup email

I've a couple of questions please.

1) If I move accounts across from my VPS to the new semi dedicated then nothing will change during the migration causing problems?

2) Do I need to know when this migration will happen as not to cause problem if I'm in the middle of any VPS transfers?

3) When will the migration happen? and will you let me know when it is complete?

I'm very happy that my semi dedicated server has been setup, thank you, but would like to make sure it is safe for me to get accounts moved onto it

Hi David..

No data loss would occur & nothing within the VPS would change during such VPS to the Semi Dedicated server migration processes.

We'll communicate with you prior to any such migrations, which might impede your ongoing work at that time.

One of our senior admins would reply shortly to your other queries regarding the exact time the migration is to take place...

Thank you for your patience meanwhile..

Thanks, so it's ok to start moving accounts from my VPS to the semi dedicated before the semi dedicated itself is moved to another node.

I hope the migration is today

Hello David,

Yes, you can start the migration of your VPS accounts to your Semi-dedicated server. Migration of current Semi-dedicated server to new hardware node will not affect your accounts and their settings as we will migrate your existing semi-dedicated server as it is to the new hardware node along with the IP address.

I have no access to my semi dedicated now even pinging the IP doesn't work.

Ping has started ...

PING 213.175.203.250 (213.175.203.250): 56 data bytes

--- 213.175.203.250 ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

I'm getting real tired of being told everything is/will be ok. Is it too much to ask to have *something* that just works?

I've been with you for over a year and a half now but anytime I look at doing something new it never works and I'm starting to loose faith, seriously.

Thumbs up Hello

Dear David,

You are not able to ping because ping is disabled by CSF firewall.

We have checked the uptime of your server and it is up from last 18 hours.

Quote:
root@server [~]# uptime
18:51:34 up 18:51, 0 users, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00
Websites and WHM/cpanel are accessible for us.

We found 201.0.145.106 and 66.36.241.29 Ips blocked by CSF/lfd firewall (reason : 5 sshd login failures attempts).

Not sure if you have same IP address for your local network. If you have static Ip address then we can add your IP in /etc/csf/csf.allow list.

Please get back to us if the problem still persist.

I'm always in the 80's.*.*.* or 90's.*.*.* range (UK Orange Broadband) and I have no idea why the those two IP addresses (certainly not mine) have tried to gain access via SSH.

I can now access my semi dedicated again but I'm curious as to why I couldn't 15 minutes ago? - Bizarre.

On a lighter note, any time/date about the node migration?

Hi David,

We can take care of migration on Saturday or Sunday if that's convenient with you. Please let us know if you prefer Saturday or Sunday?

Hello

Your semi dedicated sever was using popa3d , popa3ds as pop/imap server to receive emails and both were exists in /etc/xinet.d. Courier-imap is use as default pop/imap server on all cPanel servers.
So I have removed popa3d and popa3ds from the /etc/xinet.d and restarted courier-imap service.
You should be able to receive emails now via POP3
Enjoy

Thanks, Alan, that's great - if I remember correctly my other linux semi-dedi had that issue too in the begining. It's a conspiracy

Saturday would be great, please. If possible could you let me know before hand and after the migration so I don't move any accounts during that time causing issues.
