Default File and Folder permissions

Hi, I wonder if anyone can explain this.

I have a Zikula site under construction on an account on my Linux VPS.

A number of folders needed to be deleted but cPanel was not doing it, no error message given. These folders had all been generated by module api scripts.

Checking using an FTP client the folders and their files were 99 99 ownership ie nobody.

Right I though login to Virtuozo and delete there which I duly did.

Going back to both control panel and looking via FTP the damn folders and their contents are still there but they are not showing up in Virtuozo.

I am at a loss to explain this.

Martyn

Hello Martyn,

By default web servers run PHP scripts with the credentials of a user name "nobody" and any "files/folders" are uploaded by the scripts are having "nobody" ownership i.e [99], due to which you were not able to deleted it from the cPanel, as "nobody" is not in the same primary group as the cPanel users.
You can delete those "files/folders" directly login to shell as root user or drop an email to vps [@] eukhost.com along with the site name and folder details. Our admins will correct the ownership, after that you will be able to delete it using FTP or File manager through cPanel without any problem.

Hi Rsync,

I am aware of why I could not delete them from cPanel that's why I logged in to Virtuozo Parallels Power panel as a root user and deleted them there. My point is that they deleted fine as a root user and don't show in Virtuozo but they are still there in cPanel and can be seen by FTP Why?

Hello Martyn,

It requires an investigation to find the cause of this problem. I will suggest you to drop an email along with your server details. Our admins will investigate on it and update you with the full details.
