Mine looks good until it switches over to euroconnex.net, HOP8 for me

Although I don't get any packet loss (yet), I can see high pings at times.

Was this traceroute report during an outage?

Not a 100% outage, just extremely slow network.

I get intermittant speed issues via virgin also

it gets a wee bit annoying as most of the time it's really quick
and then becomes unusable for a while

at the moment i've lost contact with my VPS Hosting,
and the trace stops at 87.127.231.90 [ge-5-2.the.uk.euroconnex.net]

i've reported it via live chat, and it's with the engineers now
i just hope it gets sorted quickly as the reason i moved to EUKhost
was downtime and performance issues with my old provider

**edit, back up now , so looks like it was a server issue this time

There appeared to be about a 10 minute outage today on Virgin. Not sure if they were trying something but my router connection was still up just no data transfer. No change from me and 10 minutes later it was back... Similar things happened for other people.

I always check if I can access eukhost.com - and if I can't access this site, then I know it is 'that issue' again.

Anyway, I managed to catch a spell today a few minutes ago where I could access this web site hosting and I done the tracerroute... but to me there doesn't look like ther was any problem.

Note: I wasn't able to access eUKhost while doing this tracerroute and I tried checking 2 of my domains as well... about 2-3 mins after I finished, I was able to access again.

As I said, it doesn't look out of the ordinary... but I don't know what the information really tells me anyway :P. All I know is I had timeouts and was not able to access for a period of 10-15 mins.

For the past two weeks my Virgin internet connection has been bad, particularly in the evenings. It results in the internet (websites + email + IM) going down for couple minutes at a time.

I too have the odd problem - only lasts a couple of minutes at a time and doesn't affect any other website hostings I visit. It just affects the sites on eukhost. Email, ftp, browsing, control panel: everything.

I've got my router to use openDNS and after 30 secs it diverts to an openDNS page saying something like "Ooops, the computer that operates this web web site hosting isn't working at the moment."

And there's a link to "See what DNS servers aren't responding." Clicking this link show ns21. and ns22.eukdns.com - not responding.

I thought it might resolve after the recent Puma changeover but it is still happening.

As I said, only a couple of minutes at a time and then everything goes back to normal.

I have tried a tracert during the outage and after about 5 hops I start seeing entries like

6 London-Level1
7 New York-Level3

Haven't kept any of the printouts but will next time. Often, by the time I open up the command prompt the problem has resolved.

Yeah, I've noticed this more recently. Initially I thought it was their DNS servers being stupid however since then I've got my router to OpenDNS which seemed to improve the issue however it's getting worse again atm. I know Virgin have been having a fair bit of congestion on their network recently but these outages wouldn't really account for that.

I think it's something Virgin wise but with the monkeys they have in their tech support department I doubt we're going to get anywhere fast...

arghh this is driving me nuts.

I have a live chat system on my website hosting and chat to customers regularly only to be cut off for 2-5 mins at a time. I think it is the same problem as describe above.

How do I go about determining if it is the same problem as described here or my Dedicated Server is indeed going dead for 2-5 mins at random?

any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

I have a monitoring service with a 14 day free trial which you could use to monitor your server. It can be found at Checker DesignWebsite Hosting Monitoring, Web Server Monitoring Service.

Your not using the coffeecup live chat system are you?
There are know issue's with this live chat software.
I run a live chat on my website hosting and use it everyday, and have not suffered any issues that you are having.

it is literally everything associated with the server.. mail / http / ssh -- for 2 - 5 mins at a time about twice a day everything stops!

I've currently got a call open with support about this - but I'm using PlusNet not Virgin Media.

Since about 30 minutes after I signed up last night, I've had problems with either hop 6 or 7 on the following trace route

Tracing route to victorious.eukhost.com [92.48.108.235] over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 35 ms 32 ms 32 ms lo0-plusnet.ptn-ag1.plus.net [195.166.128.123]
3 32 ms 33 ms 32 ms ge0-0-0-303.ptn-gw01.plus.net [84.92.3.9]
4 33 ms 32 ms 33 ms te2-2.thn-gw1.plus.net [212.159.1.54]
5 32 ms 33 ms 34 ms lonap2.enta.net [193.203.5.135]
6 33 ms 33 ms 32 ms ge-5-2.the.uk.euroconnex.net [87.127.231.90]
7 34 ms 33 ms 33 ms pri.bsq2-the.as29550.net [217.112.81.86]
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * * * Request timed out.
10 * * * Request timed out.
11 ^C

Any ideas? I've tried two different networks - work and via a proxy from home - one works the other doesn't. The only thing those trace routes show is that it doesn't go near hop 7 in particular!

Help please

DOH - all sorted now. I'd got myself blocked by the eUKhost firewall for one reason or another

Hurray for live chat support

You certainly aren't the first and won't be the last who does that! I managed it the other day on a university computer as the language changed to arabic when I was trying to do things.... Server didn't like that. Lol.

Once again , over the past few weeks im getting high(ish) hops when i switch over from the virgin network to the blueconnex.net at around hop 8.

7 17 ms 12 ms 13 ms tele-ic-1-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.184.2]
8 158 ms 208 ms 68 ms the-linx.blueconnex.net [195.66.224.223]

next attempt
7 14 ms 14 ms 12 ms tele-ic-1-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.184.2]
8 149 ms 69 ms 13 ms the-linx.blueconnex.net [195.66.224.223]

Sometimes is drops to 13 - 20ms , but quite frequently I see high pings.

Most other sites resolve fairly well

This is the hops to Eukhost.com
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms xxxx
2 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms xxxx

Personally I think this is something which you should raise a ticket about to a senior admin in support. It might need to go to the datacentre technicians as it seems like something coming in to one of the DC supply networks.
