LaTeX installation on Linux VPS?

Hi ,

I was wondering if LaTeX is installed by default on Linux VPS Hosting?

I am trying to use TeX markup in a MediaWiki installation, but it seems some required stuff is missing, and I'm not sure what.

It uses texvc (texvc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) , which i have installed succesfully ( i think), but it has a number of dependencies. The error message I get from MediaWiki Website Hosting is:

Failed to parse (PNG conversion failed; check for correct installation of latex, dvips, gs, and convert)......

Has anyone succesfully used/installed Latex on a VPS Hosting??

I'm not overly experienced with Linux so am unsure how to check for installed features, and the best way to install new ones!
