Default More about Windows VPS Hosting ...

I wanna know more about VPS Hosting, maybe I get one

Is that secure against hackers ? I mean shall I secure it myself like Dedicated server or the company configure and secure that for me ?

What does burstable ram mean ? do you have that ?

IPs ? static IP ?

What does Allowed Processes mean ? for example 80 ? explain with example please

What does Managed mean ?

Install Custom Software , does it mean installing softwares like components and dlls ? can I install something like a monitoring software or ...

Backup Restore Utility , this mean I have to take my own backups and company wouldn't take backups anymore ?

What is different between Plesk and Plesk Power Pack ?

for example with package W-VPS Hosting-01 how many web website hostings can I host ?
If I want to run a forum like here , how much is the maximum users that can be online in the forum ?

Thanks

All the servers here whether they be shared, VPS Hosting or dedicated are secure against attacks. For answers to your more technical questions you will have to wait till someone from sales or support can get back to you on that.

On a VPS Hosting, you would be able to host a forum that an extremely large number of members could be logged on to at the same time.

eUKhost also has its own backup plans (starting at £12 per year) so that you don't have to worry about the safety of your data but you can of course take your own backups as well.

Hope that answers some of your questions .

I have answered all your questions as following :-

Q. 1]Is that secure against hackers ? I mean shall I secure it myself like Dedicated server or the company configure and secure that for me ?
Ans :- It will be 100% secure against hackers initially when it would be setup for you but you will need to contact our support team once in 2 - 3 months to get latest security patches and software updates applied on your VPS Hosting. Windows VPS Hosting is quite similar to Windows Dedicated Server so any sort of security updates need to be done manually and you will need to contact us as and when you find some time to get things updated on your VPS Hosting.

Q. 2] What does burstable ram mean ? do you have that ?
Ans :- We assign specific amount of RAM to each VPS Hosting hosted on respective Windows node but most of the times some VPS Hostings are idle while some are in need of more Memory. Burstable RAM is what you get from the unused RAM from the idle VPS Hostings. If all VPS Hostings use their assigned RAM allocations then you wont be able to get burstable RAM.

Q.3] IPs ? static IP ?
Ans :- W-VPS Hosting-01 plan comes with 2 IP addresses. One can be used as a shared IP for setup of multiple website hostings while other can be used for setup of SSL Certificate. Nameservers dont need Dedicated IPs so nameservers can be setup on same IP addresses. If you need more IPs then it will cost £2 per month per additional IP.

Q.3] What does Allowed Processes mean ? for example 80 ? explain with example please
Ans :- Allowed number of processes are those which you see in the task manager. idle VPS Hosting will use close to 20 Processes so once you install more number of applications then the number of processes go on increasing. There wont be more than 1 process of Webservice no matter how many website hostings you run. Same way MySQL, MSSQL, mail service will take 1 process each.

Q.4] What does Managed mean ?
Ans :- Managed means 24 x 7 support for any sort of technical problem you may have. It includes frequent security and software updates on demand and anything that is categorized in Technical Support. We wont charge you for any sort of technical problem you may have.

Q.5] Install Custom Software , does it mean installing softwares like components and dlls ? can I install something like a monitoring software or ...
Ans :- You can install any software which is supported by Windows 2003 Standard edition. You just need to ensure that your software uses limited amount of RAM or CPU as certain applications like Tomcat wont work on a Windows VPS Hosting as tomcat is a memory intensive software.

Q.6]Backup Restore Utility , this mean I have to take my own backups and company wouldn't take backups anymore ?
Ans :- We make 2 separate backups of all our hosted VPS Hostings on a remote backup servers every week. If anything goes wrong with your VPS Hosting then at max we will have 3 days old backup of your VPS Hosting. If you make any sort of messup and request restore then you would be charged £15 for backup restore but if something goes wrong from our end then the restore is done for free.

Q.7]What is different between Plesk and Plesk Power Pack ?
Ans :- Plesk power pack is addon of Plesk . plain plesk control panel has got limited features but with plesk powerpack you get many onclick installable softwares similar to those which come with Fantastico. More information on plesk power pack is available at http://www.swsoft.com/en/products/plesk75win/addons/

Q.8] for example with package W-VPS Hosting-01 how many web website hostings can I host ?
If I want to run a forum like here , how much is the maximum users that can be online in the forum ?
Ans :- You can run over 100 website hostings without any problem. You can run a single forum successfully which may have upto 300 concurrent users on it.

Thank you so much for the answers ,
But a normal shared host can have about 350 concurrent online users , I've tested this ,
I thought it is more than 800 users on a VPS Hosting , are you sure about that 300 users ?

About processes , 20 processes is with MSSQL and Mailserver or without them ?

Thanks again

I have considered those 300 users editing / posting on the forum. If you just need to know how many can browse at a time on the forum then it could be above 1000 users.

20 default processes include all running service which includes MSSQL, IIS Web Server Web Service, Mailserver and other default windows processes.

So you mean 300 registered and online user, yes this is different because Guest user is just browsing , he/she doean't have permission to post or ...

And I think this means we don't have any problem about ram , is 512 MB enough for this ?

Yep. 512 MB RAM is sufficient. Our recently setup Windows VPS Hosting nodes have high configuration CPU's with 8 GB of RAM so you wont have any sort of problems with 512 MB RAM for your VPS Hosting.
