New VPS account
Hi,
I've just bought a VPS package and I have some questions:
- do I need to register a domain name for it. My product info says server1.yourdomain.com and that, of course, doesn't work. If needed, where do I register it?
- what is the IP address of my virtual server?
Or am I just impatient and will I get this info after a while?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Maurice

Hi Maurice,
Let me answer your questions

In this case, a domain is required only for the hostname part [server1.yourdomain.com]. If you dont have any domain at present, you can leave the current assigned hostname [server1.yourdomain.com] unchanged unless you're going to run email services over it, as rDNS [reverse DNS] over hostnames are essential for email transactions nowadays. If you want to register a domain name, please contact our Billing Dept [ billing @ eukhost.com ] for further information.

Your order is still in the Pending Status. Your VPS will be created within the next few mins & an email containing all the necessary login details would be sent on your registered email address once done.

Thanks. I was just a bit impatient..
Another quick question. I don't think MySQL is working correctly on our system. The MySQL processes list is always empty and I see 7 databases in the Repair section. None of which I created. Even worse, I can't even create a database (using cPanel).
As a test I changed the root MySQL password and this is the result:
Code:
Waiting for mysql to terminate.....Done
Waiting for mysql to restart.....Done
Changing Password....Done
Reloading MySQL...Done
Waiting for mysql to terminate.....Done
Restarting MySQL ....
Waiting for mysql to restart..............finished.
mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "mysql has failed").
Done
The MySQL root password has been changed.
Something else I must do? I was under the impression that MySQL came pre-installed in a VPS package.
Cheers,
Maurice

MySQL version 5.0.51 pre-installed in cPanel/WHM
When the control panel (cPanel/WHM) is installed on the VPS, MySQL version 5.0.51 is pre-installed with it. If the MySQL seems to be functioning improper on your VPS, contact the dedicated VPS Team to get it fixed through Live Chat or email at vps [@] eukhost.com.

Hello,
Hello,
The issue has been resolved now. One of the mysql process was stucked, I have tried to kill the process manually but not succeeded, so finally I have rebooted your VPS and now mysql is working fine.

Thanks!
I tried rebooting as well but it didn't seem to work at first.
BTW. rebooting only works from the WHM? I couldn't restart the container from the Virtuozzo pages as the options the help mentions aren't there.

Rebooting from the VZPP control panel does work, but its not instant, when you click on the 'reboot' link, a cron is scheduled to reboot the VPS, which takes next 4 mins to run. But if you reboot from WHM or SSH console directly, it reboots immediately

Gotcha! Thanks.
I'm sorry, but I can't find that link. I see my container, but the control panel shows the Plesk icon (which is odd as we ordered cPanel) and that's it.
