Default nginx vs apache

has anyone started using nginx rather than apache as a web server?

any issues i should be aware of?

I'd like to set it up on a seperate port (other than 80) maybe run a couple of sites see how it goes and then start migrating sites over.

Hello,

We dont have any client who is using 'nginx' or requested for it. Control panel like cpanel or plesk are not yet supporting nginx. Nginx is better for low-memory environments. Apache is good if you want a wide range of configuration options.

Hi I recently requested NGINX as it runs magento like the wind compared to Apache2 - however, this is the reply I got:

Hello,

We understand your concern however we have set some policies to keep our network safe from hackers and attackers.

Nginx is a free, open-source, high-performance HTTP server and reverse proxy, as well as an IMAP/POP3 proxy server and we do not support proxy servers on our network.

We don't want to get a deal which will affect our existing customers.

Regards,
Jack M

I really dont see the issue though - however this for me is pretty bad and as a result I am looking for alternative hosts that will support Nginx this is not something I want to do - my experience with EUK up to now has been great, but the clients want Nginx so I have no choice...

hello QB3RT

ngnix works with cpanel there is a nice plugin you can use called cPnginx most hosts that i know off will let ngnix run on a VPS

My experince with EUK is not good either they informed me that you had to lease a server from cloudlinux or you can not use there software which is unture.

You would thought EUK would welcome new tehcnology but clearly they have some catching up to do with stuff like this...

Yes, Plesk control panel does have proxy support enabled.
