oscommerce loop problem

Hi all.. first off a bit of praise to the eukhost team.. have to say its a breath of fresh air after my old host of five years have gone steadily downhill since being bought by pipex a couple of years back.. (i had a reseller account on a well known company based in doncaster). I'm currently well pleased with my VPS Hosting even though i dont know my way round it properly yet and are learning as i go along.

Anyway.. onto the prob.

I use a heavily modified OSCommerce on a few sites and plan to transfer these to the VPS Hosting. First tests havent gone well, as some of the contribs are causing probs. I've now got it up and running but seem to have a prob.
When you choose a product, or try go get into a category, it goes into what i think is a permanent loop. Theres no errors in the log so i cant find out whats causing it. Static pages work fine but category and product url's just never get anywhere. I am running Ultimate S.E.O but have turned these off. I've also deleted the htaccess file which was controlling them.

The shop is HERE . Excuse the base template as its only temporary.. i know my way round OSC very very well but i cant find out whats causing the loop.

Can anyone help? I'm running about 10 osc sites in total and i need to get them going..

May I ask why the links arn't like normal links when hover over?

He means the links at the top just look like normal text - and when you put your mouse over them, nothing happens.

Anyway, back to the main point - have you disabled mod_security - this *may* fix your problems.

Mod_security has been disabled, but still the problem persists.. we're working on it...

like i say, its using a few heavy mods, so i guess any one of them could be causing the prob.. but i never saw it on my old shared servers (they were running php4 as CGI, not sure if that makes a difference)

site... regarding the links.. i did say it was just a base template (i've never even seen it before today).. they just look like css links to me with a cursor override. My normal templating system cant be used as it throws up an error, but i'll trace that another time.

Surly it would be wise to add the final template with errors and correct those also ?

no because the templating system is inherently incorrect, and obviously has bugs. Therefore i'm just trying to sort one problem at a time. Theres no point in me fixing the template system if there are other basic problems that are stopping me from using OSC. Its a standard fault finding thing, ie you work from the back forward

Anyway, for reference i'm using BTS, and the templating was a variation called STS for BTS, but i dont see how its relevant as its the loop problem that i'm trying to sort out on this thread.

This has really been a bit tricky..
We tried to look into every aspects but did not find any relevant script that would make your web site hosting go in loop. This is more to do with the DB settings, we also tried to dig the database but it seems very huge for us to check every entry.

We can wait for other Linux/php tycoons to look into it for you.

i think this is a DNS problem. I've set up another OSC and it works fine, but i'm getting this report for the DNSon the problem site..

I have corrected the DNS entry for "garden-inventions.co.uk domain" and also added RDNS entry for "87.117.252.154" IP pointing to "garden-inventions.co.uk". Propagation of RDNS will take some time. Please check DNS report now intoDNS: garden-inventions.co.uk - check DNS server and mail server health

now that i've got OSC working okay.. i need to be cheeky and ask one more thing..
have you any clues whats causing the errors HERE ? this is only when using a template which uses this one script at public_html/templates/HTML/main_page.tpl.php. its obviously bad, but i cant figure out why. It was working fine on my old host..

sorted it... for some reason this 'r' is in here..

$file_array = file(DIR_WS_TEMPLATES . $php_template, 'r');

it didnt break the web site hosting on the other server, but it does on this one.. odd.

Great..!!! glad that you go it sorted finally.
However it seems a bit strange why would it not work on your VPS Hosting.. Could it be PHP version...? I hope a PHP guru can answer that mystery.

i think it must be down to the version.. my old host was running 4.3, and the VPS Hosting is running 5.

I believe Php 5 is more strict then 4 ...

the same thing has happened again, after an apache update .. whats causing it? is it the way i originally added the domain to the account?
