PHP updates on VPS

Following the release of new versions of PHP4 and PHP5 today (http://www.php.net/releases/4_4_7.php and http://www.php.net/releases/5_2_2.php) due to multiple vulnerabilities, I'm wondering when the updates will be available in WHM Apache Update.

Is it possible that support could update any PHP installations whilst we wait for cPanel to catch up with the latest versions?

Hello,

Yes, you can change the PHP version using WHM "Apache Update" or using command "/scripts/easyapache" from the shell. You can select the PHP 4.4.6 or PHP 5.1.6 or PHP 5.2.0 which are stable versions of the PHP.

I appreciate your response, I was fully aware of the Apache update facility in WHM. But the latest stable releases of PHP (according to the PHP site) are 4.4.7 and 5.2.2 which fix some pretty bad security vulnerabilities (the website hosting strongly recommends immediate updates), hence my question about updating. WHM/cPanel has not applied the latest stable releases for use in the Apache update.

Yeah, it seems that the Cpanel doesn't applied new patches or updates but you can still use the current versions and we have many servers and VPS Hostinges which are running on PHP4.4.6 and we haven’t faced any problems still now.

Still I will check this with Cpanel engineers if they have any updates regarding this.

They have a Bugzilla running on the issue (see http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=5350), sorry I should have checked that first.
