Poor Performance
I've been having some perfomance issues over the last week or so.
Im pretty sure its the config to blame but im not sure what else i can do?
Ive rebuilt the apache config, cpanel is at the latest CURRENT build but still seems to be slow.
The server isnt being loaded heavily its running like it should but i cant pin point the problem, I think its apache but apache browses very quickly when using its filetree format.
Any ideas?
If someone could give the web site hosting a tweak i would appreciate it. As it was lightning fast when i first got it a month or so ago.

Cheers.

Chris,
We are changing cpanel version on your VPS Hosting to EDGE. So that your VPS Hosting will have " cPanel VPS Hosting Optimized" version.
cPanel VPS Hosting Optimized is a new version of cPanel / WHM specifically designed to run on Virtual Private Servers. cPanel VPS Hosting Optimized provides the feature rich functionality of cPanel / WHM while reducing memory usage by up to 60% on VPS Hosting instances.

Ahh well it was on edge but i put it to CURRENT which is a realease or two behind the EDGE build, as i wanted something a bit more mature. Isnt the CURRENT build VPS Hosting optimised too? or only EDGE build?

cPanel update has been completed on your VPS Hosting. Currently cPanel VPS Hosting Optimized comes only with EDGE version.

It's still a very new thing. It's definately worth upgrading to it. If it causes issues you can always downgrade back to the traditional cPanel version.

I seem to be having some issues too over the past few days. I'm not sure where the problem lies. Some of my users are having difficulty in posting new threads at my forums, this morning someone tried and got this;

The forum also seems to be crashing for short periods of time. Any ideas?

I'm not sure.... Never seen anything like it before but I'm not very well up on the backend of forums. Anything generated in any logs anywhere?

Very good question... Support themselves might be able to help you more with it as they may know more about the software than me.
With the Virgin issue, it's another situation which is highly irritating but there are lots of people being affected. Until Virgin do something to fix it (it must be their end otherwise everyone would be having problems) there isn't much eUK can do.... And if I know what Virgin support is like, they'll take FOREVER to do it and even then won't admit it's their own fault.

I do appreciate that Virgin may be at fault with that issue, as it is just people with Virgin having the problem, but that doesn't really explain why this wasn't a problem with my old hosts. We only moved to eUK recently, and while the techs here have been fantastic with the actual move, no one seems to be able to solve this.

The problem will be trying to get hold of the right people at Virgin.... And I know from experience that is practically impossible as their higher level tech support rarely deal with people in person. I do know however that their tech support is soon coming off premium rate numbers so once that happens I will be chasing them up some more. I just don't want to have to keep paying 25p a minute for pretty much a pointless call as they'll say it's something in the DC.
