Hi,

Has anyone managed to connect to a POP3 mail account on their VPS Hosting with a Blackberry? My client swears he's not able.

Does there need to be specific software installed on the server? It was my understanding that the doesn't, but I've never set one up before on a VPS Hosting, so I don't know.

Anyone here doing it? Did you have to do anything special to the device or server?

I think one of my clients does it but he uses IMAP for it. Well, I presume he does as looking at the logs, the blackberry server comes in via IMAP connection.

Things to check would be he's using the full email address as his login and go from there.

Thanks, would I need to install something extra to provide IMAP? How does it differ from POP3? I can't see an option in Plesk to create an IMAP account - it just seems to offer POP3.

Are you on a linux VPS Hosting? And do you use WHM with it?

You are using Plesk, meaning that you must be on a Windows server. The mail server that eUKhost uses for Plesk (Windows) hosting servers is MailEnable standard; this edition of MailEnable doesn't include an IMAP connector, meaning that you can only connect via POP3.

I see that you're using a VPS Hosting; MailEnable is installed and configured during the Plesk installation unless otherwise stated. When logging in via POP3, your username should take the form of 'email@domain.com', and the password used should be the one entered when creating the mail account.

It is possible to get Plesk for Linux as support mentioned it the other day.

Regarding the blackberry thing. I believe if you can't get the POP to work by direct login, you should be able to get your client to sort it from his blackberry web client account. I would think from the logs on my dedicated server, my client has configured it from his web account and that checks at predefined intervals for emails. It then sends these to his blackberry email account so he gets them on his blackberry.

Just to add: I don't think Plesk for Linux comes with an IMAP connector either.
