Default Pure-FTP error 530

i'm getting error 530 (Login authentication failed) while trying to use ftp ,
using an account that was working previously

i added another ftp account , and that gets exactly the same error

the only thing that i know that's changed is that the new optimised Cpanel and WHM
installed themselves in the early hours of this morning.

any ideas ??

try restaring the ftp process in your WHM, see if that resolves it

Chris, I will suggest to contact VPS Hosting support department to get this fixed. You can contact via Live Chat or by sending an email at <a href="http://www.eukhost.com/vps-...a>@eukhost.com

i'd found an article on cpanel.net ( http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpwhm...leasenotes.pdf)

that implied that this was a known issue

Quote:
Issue: FTP logins getting “530 Login authentication failed” for all users
Solution: Switch FTP from Pure-ftpd to Proftpd in WHM > FTP Configuration or vice-versa then switch back to again it should resolve the problem.
but that didn't work either

also using the 'Synchronize FTP Passwords' option in WHM didn't solve it either

so i've now raised a support ticket

support have tried a few things but still can't get it working

so i'm now on pro-ftpd until a fix is available from cpanel

once again i'm impressed by the response to problems
and the fact that we don't get fobbed off but get proper feedback

Hmmmm. Really odd one... I didn't have any issues when I upgraded. And you've suggested everything I would have done! Ah well, we'll let the cPanel people sort it out. They usually manage to get to the bottom of things.
