Hi all!
I've recently signed up for a Linux
VPS Hosting and am just in the process of getting that all set up correctly. I was originally using a shared hosting plan with another company on a US server. This was quite slow most of the time and I had no end of problems sending emails to customers.
Now that I have a unique IP and RDNS in place I'm hoping for much better success with the email side of things. I've also just registered for MS's SenderID so hopefull this will get my mails into Hotmail customer's inboxes!! I send out software registration keys via email so having a reliable server from which to send these was my number one goal in setting up the
VPS Hosting with eUK.
Anyway, I'm now thinking about providing some shared hosting to some of my customers and was wondering the best way to go about this. My first thought is to get a third IP for my
Dedicated Server and host all of the shared sites from this IP. This way my "main domain" is kept completely separate and if any of the other sites end up on email blacklists etc it won't effect my
website hosting.
Does this sound like the best way to go? I also have my own nameservers setup so the new IPs would be as follows:-
IP1 > ns1 & primary hosting for my
website hosting
IP2 > ns2
IP3 > shared hosting.
Having said that would it be possible to simply put all the shared hosting on the second IP with ns2?
I'm very new to this as I'm sure you can tell so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
Chris.
