Default Server dropping off

Well I have heard it all now.

Over the last few days every now and then our server seems to go off-line, not serving web pages WHM wont load and no reply to pings.
Every time I have raised this on live chat, they have a fiddle then all working. The last time I was told the routing tables needed sorting???
sometimes it goes off line (or seems to) when it comes back up I go to WHM and see the server load high, and then drops down again, all back to normally before I can even get a live chat window open.

Well it happened again this afternoon, I went into live chat and reported the server off line, no web pages, no WHM and no reply to ping, while he was looking at it, it all came back up (apparently all on it's own) The live chat operator said nothing wrong with it (of course it had come back up by then)
So in some tongue in cheek, I said, Oh I suppose it the no reply to pings when everything else pings OK, and no web pages is all down to my Internet connection I suppose is it?

Well the answer was........ Yes, you need to check our Internet connection (bearing in mind, this must be OK, as I have a live chat window open!

Now Internet connections is something we know a thing or two about as we have been providing ADSL services for some years now, and to be told it's all down to us is pretty much a joke!

I am really starting to have questions about this host, sure there is always someone there when you need them, but to blame the customer

just a question, in WHM do you have the confiserver firewall and security installed (will be in the plugins part) as we had something similar a while ago where ICMP (think it was) was refusing to reply, and it would drop our sites intermitantly then they would recover for a good while, then dropoff for a few mins etc etc

worth a look i suppose

If ICMP is blocked - this wont effect your normal internet browsing to the website hosting in question.

Hi Karl,

Just to let you know that I have requested our Senior System Admins to look into this problem. This isn't really good as your VPS Hosting was running smoothly so far and there should not be any reason for such intermittent packet loss.

Our System Admins will reply once they investigate.

Thumbs up

Hello Karl

I have checked your semi-dedicated server and the results are as follows.

-- VPS Hosting is up from last 3 days.
-- Kernel messages not having single warning about memory, which shows it is not related to resources over usage at all.
-- Currently Firewall is disabled, so ICMP is not considerable.

It might be possible that you are facing this problem while cPanel update process was running or cPanel backups running.

I will request you to please paste output of traceroute to your VPS Hosting ip address, if you face this problem again.

OK, server off line again (and has been for a while) I have responded to the ticket, and a tracert shows the failure is at the same point it always fails at when there is a problem, the firewall (.252)

Hello,

Ronan has replied to your ticket. Initially we thought it was a network problem because of which all investigations were being done keeping that in mind. Later on, the NOC team confirmed that it is all down to the power loss.

Please update the ticket if you have any further issues. Thank you for your patience.

Angry

Well this is getting to be a joke now, got up this morning, fired up my own PC to do some work before I get into the office, and guess what, off line again, currently on live chat with Nancy, but I am getting fed up with having to log onto live chat to get this sorted out. I know I have been told lots of different reasons for this, last one being "oh it was down to the outage" well so what is it this time?
I know in my other post I was saying I think I may not be so sure about moving over to yous service, well now I am sure of it, I had problems with my last host, but at least the service stayed up for more than a few days at a time, and this seems to be almost a daily exerience, and to say I am not happy would be an understatment!

Hi Karl,

I had a word with our VPS Hosting Team and they said that Virtuozzo license had expired on the main node which resulted in downtime for all semi-dedicated's hosted on the node. There was nothing else wrong with the node.
