Default Server Problems (Again)

Whe we first joined eUKHosts we bought a semi dedicated server which was working out very well but within a week we realised this was not adequate for our needs so immediately upgraded to a dedicated one.

This is when we started having problems, we opted for the offer of eUKHosts doing the setting up of the server and transferring the sites etc but kept in contact while it was bing done.

The new server was set up with the exact same settings using the same nameservers that were used on the old server but it did have different IPs. Once it was determined all data had been transfered to the new server we then requested that the nameservers would be pointed to the new servers IPs and were informed that this propagation would take approx 5-6 hours.

Well that was 4 days ago and we still appear to be having people being swapped from one server to the other on a regular basis we ourselves seem to be hopping from one to the other also At first we thought it was a problem with DNS as we use O2 Broadband and they have known issues with access to some websites but we applied the fix for our PC for this and at first we went to the new server and have been since. However we are now back on the old server as of this morning and we know quite a few of our users are also experiencing this problem.

It appears the original VPS we bought is still running as the sites which are on there, the ones we are accessing atm, all work properly. So I am assuming that is still running.

Now I am a newbie to all this sort of stuff so I'm not sure about this, but my mind tells me we now have 2 servers both with the same nameservers but those nameservers are pointing to 2 different sets of IPS. Surely this is the problem? Will this not prevent the new server progagating properly?

We did ask to cancel the original server btw but it obviously hasn't been. If it is cancelled before the new one has propagated would that effect the new one?

Please help we are desparate

Hello John,

Your websites are still running from the old semi dedicated server. We will re-sync your website files and databases and change the name server IP. We will switch A records of all your domains from the old semi dedicated server and make them point to your new Dedicated Server. This will prevent any sort of downtime.

Once your websites start resolving from new Dedicated Server, we'll suspend your old server.
