server time drifts

I keep having to raise support tickets (Three in 3 months) to get the time corrected on my VPS Hosting

this is necessary as it's down to the overall server , we don't have access at VPS Hosting level to change it.


why isn't the time kept synchronised to a time server, rather than waiting till somebody raises a ticket ??


i think this is a basic configuration issue that should be standardised across all servers

update:

support have now implemented ntpd server,

so the question is, why isn't this part of the standard set up of the VPS Hosting node ?

I have implemented ntpd on all our servers to get this fixed. Server time is corrected. The ntpd program is an operating system daemon that synchronises the system clock with remote NTP time servers or local reference clocks.

The ntpd program normally operates continuously while adjusting the time and frequency, but in some cases it may not be practical to run it continuously.
