Default Sharred SSL on VPS ?

Hi,

I know shared SSL is offered on shared hosting, but is it available on VPS accounts.

If so where would I find the settings.

Thanks.

Hello,

Shared SSL can be installed on a vps also. If you are using a cPanel/WHM vps you can simply generate a self signed SSL certificate from WHM for your vps hostname & install the SSL on the hostname.

Shared SSL is a means of secure Web server access without requiring users to purchase a digital key. You can set it in plesk panel.

In this case, only one domain should have real SSL certificate. We will call it Master SSL Domain. Other domains, which are set up to use Shared SSL will use its resources. To choose the Master SSL Domain from the list of domains which have SSL support enabled, go to the Server > Shared SSL page. In order to do this, set the Enable shared SSL check box and choose, which domain you want to be the Master SSL Domain.

Please refer to the following link for more details: http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk...uide/index.htm

Hi,

I meant can I use an existing SSL cert as is the case on the shared hosting you offer for one domain in my VPS without buying an SSL cert for that domain or the entire server.

Thanks,

No. This is not possible. The shared SSL is for shared hosting customers only.

It's not technically possible to set this up for VPS customers, as a VPS is a completely different independent environment with its own IP addresses.
