Default Slow Windows VPS

I've logged a number of support requests via the online chat regarding the speed of my VPS (#1185) over the past week or so and I'm still having problems.

Every so often the vps will stop responding and have high cpu usage, this may last a few minutes but has lasted up to 30 minutes. I run a very light dedicated server for a racing league (uses 1-5% cpu and 20mb ram) and the vps had one of its wobbles in the middle of a 2 hour race, this is not acceptable!

In my last live chat I asked about moving to another server and they said i would have to manually migrate my data and receive new IP addresses. This seems a bit odd to me, if EUKHOST’s not running the virtual hard disks from a SAN then I would have expected support to only move the virtual hard drive to another server, not hand out new IPS etc, can someone clarify on that?

The ip address of the hop before mine is 91.186.25.2, has anyone else on that node noticed any problems?

If it's a config problem in the VPS then moving hard drives wouldn't resolve the issue. What you'd need to redo is start from a blank VPS and reconfigure things before migrating data. As such, you would need new IPs etc.

I would suggest you open tickets via email if you're still having issues as it sounds a bit like a cron or something causing issues....

Thumbs up

Hello,

We have monitored the CPU usage on the hardware node and it's constant in between 10%-20%. We haven’t received any complaints of this nature from other customers who have their accounts on this very node.

If you would like your VPS to be moved, then let us know. We will be setting up a new hardware node which has “Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5420 @ 2.50GHz (8 Processors)” and 12 GB RAM.

We cannot just remove your HDD and plug in to another server, because you don’t have a dedicated server. We have just assigned disk space and disk Inodes to your account as per your plan.

We will have to migrate your data manually because you don’t have any control panel installed in your VPS. If you wish, we will give you a new blank VPS on this new node and you can configure all your customized settings on it and then we will migrate. However, the IP's of the new node would be different.

Please open a support ticket with from here if you would like to proceed with it.

Would it be possible that when the old vps is turned off, the new one can assign it's ips? just trying to avoid having to wait for dns changes etc

We can do it in case you want new vps on same server. If you would like to have VPS on another server then IP(s) will get changed.

You can do a migration with no downtime so I would say don't worry about IPs changing. You migrate all the data and then change the A record on the old VPS to point to the new one. After this, you then change the nameservers. I did a migration last week and I've just changed all the nameservers last night which gave me time to make sure everything was working correctly.

Anytime. And just to clarify, the sites were live from the new server straight after the migration but they were using the DNS on the old nameservers for a week until I modified the nameservers on each domain.
