Hi Sam,

This doesn't work when we have to keep telling customers 'the next couple of hours'... I've already said this to them 3 times today and frankly it isn't very professional.

jcardoso - what do you have to pay for a dedicated server...

ericsean - have you started looking elsewhere yet?

Paul

We're currently paying £214 a month for our dedicated server. I can't remember the full spec off hand (it has 4GB RAM and a nice large RAID) but what I can tell you is that the only problem we've had with it so far was a planned outage during the eUKhost server move a while back.

The server is CentOS 4 based and we host a Windows Server 2003 VMware virtual machine on it that runs our bespoke .NET AJAX application. So far so good is all I can say.

Unfortunately they're US based which is no good for me.

Anyone had any experience with interhost?

Also waiting.

And what's more my other VPS Hosting server has now gone down. That's now 4 times in less than 36 hours. This really is becoming a joke.

Hardly. Whilst the servers are now up, one of them has a severely broken Apache installation.

Thank you eUKhost for making this even more trouble than it's worth.

I have use interhost.co.uk for a while and did not find them very good. Little comunication and quite a bit of down time. Seemed to be a one man band.

Yes I can confirm my VPS Hosting is NOT working either.

I can't reinitialise my firewall because nat support is missing from the kernel or something:

FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.9-023stab044.4-enterprise/modules.dep: No such file or directory
iptables-restore v1.3.5: iptables-restore: unable to initialzetable 'nat'

Apache doesn't seem to respond either.

Similar problem here with Apache as well as problems resolving DNS addresses and other issues.

Whats the point in complaining about it here? Just open a ticket with <a href="http://www.eukhost.com/vps-...a>@eukhost.com.

Because this sort of f*** up should never have happened in the first place if proper procedures were in place to restore service elsewhere.

Instead, customers paying for a shoddy service have had to wait almost 24 hours for their servers to re-appear and even then they aren't fully working.

Well after a couple of reboots and an 'apt-get upgrade' my Dedicated Server is up and running. So much for having our servers back exactly as they were before the hardware failure.

Mine is up as well, just checking all looks OK...

Down for over 30 hours...

So now for the fallout from this, I think some questions need to be asked...

Why have so many VPS Hostinges on a server with just 2 disks, and raid1, this offers a single point of failure if (as has just happened) when a disk fails. Surely they should be on an array of many disks and raid5?

Paul

My VPS Hosting is now running again. It booted without a firewall running and the firewall state file was not my one, that's for sure.

I feel really disappointed, but in these scenarios I suppose it is best to vote with your feet.
